"Please Help" - Can Wii Games Work without the Homebrew Channel?

Hi everyone. I have a quick question to ask considering a modded Wii system.

I haven't played any games on it for a long time. One of the last few games I tried were Tatsunoko VS. Capcom, but it didn't work along with all the newer Wii games. I have never used the Homebrew Channel and know nothing about playing games on a Wii or using Neogamma.

So, my main question is, am I still able to play newer Wii games without downloading any Homebrew channels, and only using the mod-chip? Or am I forced to download these channels to play any games new games for Wii?

A few things to mention: My Wii has a mod-chip (not sure which one, but most likely the D2C Pro if that helps). And the last new game I got working was Dragonball Revenge of King Piccolo(which was released in 2009). And my older games still work, so nothing is wrong with the mod-chip.

I was confused when looking at the guides because they all mention things about the Homebrew channel, so I decided to ask.

I would really appreciate the help, thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!

When I place the disc inside the Wii, it doesn't read it at all, so I can't even see the games startup menu. It only happens for the newer games.
I don't know what you mean by system menu, but I last updated my Wii about a month ago by using the normal/legit way.
I am afraid of using soft-mod because of the chances that it might brick the Wii console.

Sorry for the late reply, been busy this week. I just checked my Wii System menu, and the system menu is 4.3U . Hope it could help solve the problem, thanks.

because you wii is 4.3 your wii wont read out of reigon discs which might be causing some of your problems, if you want to softmod you will need to use this guide and you will need one of the games mentioned,

Thanks alot, so my Wii console couldn't read out of region disks? Do you mean like the NTSC or PAL, or a different kind of region? Because my console is NTSC, and I always used to play NTSC games which would always work, but now, the newer games that are NTSC aren't working at all.

So in the end, am I forced to softmod my Wii in order to play games? Because what I'm trying to say is that I want to continue playing newer games without softmodding, only using the chip. Is it not possible anymore.

Once again, thanks for replying =)

I hope someone could help by answering my previous question, it's the main reason for creating the thread. I'd ultimately appreciate it.
