Wii memory cards for Softmod, will this work?

My neighbours son has a wii and I am trying to get a wii softmod working for him. He will need a memory card to do this and after reading the guides I understand that a SD memory card is the recommended type.

MMC are almost identical to SD cards, being practically interchangeable.

The question I have is, would a 1GB MMC also be sufficient because I have a spare Peak 1GB MMC that I have no further use for?

Simply read through the thread of one of our softmod guides. There you will see the endless problems ppl are having trying to use something other than the recommondation of a 2 gig regular sndisk sd card.

It doesn't even HAVE to be a sandisk SD card, I modded my wii absolutely fine with a micro sd adapter with 1 gig msd card plugged into it.

But I wouldn't personally recommend doing anything beyond the guides, I was just making do with what I had at the time.

Yep, some of these methods will work, but like I said, read through the thread of the guide ans see how many times those things don't work.

Always best to try what you happen to have on hand, but if and when it doesn't work, attain the recommended tools

7 pins vs 9 pins, I would just assume that there will be a read or write error somewhere sooner or later.

Okay thank you for your replies. I have a MMC to hand which is why I hoped to use it. I have a Sandisk Extreme III SD 2GB card but I don't intend giving that to him because it's for use with my Camera.

MMC and SD fit the same card readers and devices from my experience. SD were meant to be an update but very few matched my Peak high speed MMC card for performance, only the best SD cards matched it.
