play movies

Hi
I have a new black wii and have been told i cannot play dvds on it
How can I play movies on my wii
Do I put movies on hard drive and play them

You can put them on a hard drive and plug it into the usb port on your Wii. Or you can set up a network share and play them from your computer. I highly recomend WiiMC but with the newest version i have had video problems in the upper right corner, over the network. If you have that problem too just use the previos version.

Add them with your computer. Just place the files anywhere you want on the drive. Maybe a folder called Movies? You can use Mplayer or WiiMC, those two are the best but like i said i like WiiMC the best. You dont have to install either one though unless you want to. Installing a forwarder does make it easier though, that way you just have a channel to click on instead of going into the homebrew channel. I'm sure there is already a guide on here for either of those programs to get you going if you need more information. If you have a home network that the Wii is also on, look into setting it up through that. then you can just always leave the hard drive plugged right into your computer and can also watch the movies from other devices on the network. It's simply amazing all the things the Wii can do!! There are many very talented programers we owe a lot of thanks too.
