Actually as we discovered, no it's doing an update to a 4.2 (not 4.0) unit. My point in suggesting he follow the other responder's advice: what else might he have left out? If in doubt (read: prevent a user from unnecessarily bricking), the thing to do was what he was given instruction on. Again, this based on user's... conflicting info provided thus far. Your other post was moderated, as it was out of line (with regard to my intent and your misreading said intent).

let me clarify: I spent time softmodding but never even backed up a game nor touched my wii since.

Considering the fact that my wii isn't used at all and that I simply wanted to play the copy of NBA JAM i purchased I don't want to go through added costs or hassle in re-softmodding it when I don't use it for that purpose. I simply want to play my regularly purchased games and wanted to know if updating to 4.3 from where i'm at would put my system at risk.

I'm glad Poizhan understood how I did when reading nightstah. As much as I respect your opinion nightstah as an admin I would have appreciated an answer vs. criticism on my decision.

i decided to upgrade regardless, and everything works fine, so thx to all that helped with the input.

My post was designed to prevent a possible brick (which as others had mentioned, there was a legitimate risk of that, depending). I clarified my "shorthand" in the post above yours here. Nonetheless, glad it worked out for you --- really. Also, IDK but that title may not have had 4.3 so much as IOS --- you'd be able to answer that and it might be good to know for others should you care to follow up.

Indeed, had you have bricked, your tune would be sung alot differently at this point.
