    Help updating my WII

When I installed the homebrew channel and all the ios's I used an offline method. Now that I have the internet I would like to update them. I have already looked through the guides, but still am a bit unsure of what IOS's need updating and how to do them. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
Also, when I first installed the homebrew channel, I installed it, dvdx, and bootmii as boot2 (also made a NAND backup incase I screw something up). I updated the homebrew channel again and only installed that and did not install dvdx or bootmii. Should I have done all of them again?

Here is my syscheck if it will help:

    Thnx in advance

    hey,
there are several things you can do.
actually IOS updating is most of the time quite unneseccary. what you want to update is your cios, IOS slots above 200.
you can do so by using the very first option of this guide Krank's Blackscreen Troubleshooting.
but if you didn't ran into major blackscreening problems you can stay at what you have.
if you are interested in having THE set up, i would run through mauifrog's softmod any wii guide linked below.
starting from the beginning even with hbc reinstall etc. as it includes installation of IOS58 what is used by the new hbc and some apps.
bootmii as boot2, you are lucky on that one, keep the backup in a safe place, you can also do a new backup after runningn through the guide. as a 2nd backup to fallback on.
install bootmii as ios along side if you want to access it from the hbc, for ease.
dvdx is outdated an not needed for dvd playing through wiimc for example thus it won't be installed from the new hackmii installer, you can also deinstall it.

good luck for now, hope that helps

The only thing I would update is IOS249 rev14 to rev17 found here. However you should install IOS58 found here. If you really wanted to look here at the latest IOSs and here is DOP-mii to update them with but it not necessary.

Yeah, I mainly want to make sure my cios is up to date. Really the only problem i am having currently is that when loading games through usblodergx, (or configurable usbloader) some of the game dont fill the screen (I am running widescreen and they still have black bars on the side) and thought updating may solve this issue. So for that I just do the first part of the guide titled "Corrupt/out-of-date/wrong base cIOS install OR PimpMy Wii Failure"?

    How do I uninstall dvdx?

I am glad I did bootmii as boot2, but I didn't expect any problems on since I bought this console on launch day. I do have a couple NAND backups I put on my pc, but will prob do one more before I do these updates.

you should have the option do uninstall dvdx when you run the hackmii installer again, you can also leave it, won't hurt.
cios249 can be updated with the lin krafter gave, or you can get cios249/250/222&223 with the link i gave. you already have the "good" 222/223 (it looks like that, but if you installed the them with the correct base ios37 and 37 merged with 38 that knows only you) so this won't hurt either to install something over existing stuff.

always good to have nand backups around to jump to a specific restore point, even though modding to downgrade/up date something is a lot faster than restoring your nand.

you'll figure out what is best/what you want

    good luck

Sounds good! I will prob uninstall dvdx if not needed, and not sure what method I will use to update, but both of them seem pretty straight forward.

    yes, but was topic where?
krank's guide will give you a better cios set, than that of a failure pmw "update".
OP didn't use it, you can see that from the syscheck

I think I will go ahead and do Krank's guide. Before I do that should I remove any channels or wad's I installed? Or am I ok to just install it over the top of everything?
    Thnx again!

    2nd thought.
don't uninstall anything unless you want to get rid of something (thats not the case, we are not talking about some channels or similar)

    good luck
really easy, done in 5 min
