IOS60 help

i'm using the "New 3.1-4.1 Softmod for ANY Wii" guide, so far its been great. i'm on part 4. Update system menu. it says If you don't install the patched IOS60 first you will brick!. i dont remember doing this step, and i cant find it in the guide. did i already do this? sorry to keep posting
