Talking downgrade to System Menu 4.1 on a softmodded 4.3 Wii?

I have a virgin Wii which I foolishly let install the official update to 4.3 (I even thought to myself at the time, Hmm I probably shouldn't do this, then I let it update anyway, doh). Luckily I was able to follow the 4.3 softmod guide to completion and everything is working great so far. Now just reading up on how to set up my USB drive, handle wad files and so on. Wheeeee.

My question is, I followed the optional step in the guide to downgrade the System Menu to 4.1. Now I'm not quite sure if that was the best choice. I assumed there was a good reason for doing that or it wouldn't be included in the guide, but then I came across a wiki page which mentioned 4.3 had some overall system performance increases according to Nintendo, so now I'm not sure what version is best.

Is there any reason to use one or the other? I plan on playing most games from a USB drive if that matters. I am mainly curious after reading System Menu 4.3 - WiiBrew and saw how the patch notes mentioned improving overall system performance.

Assuming System Menu 4.3 is ok after all now and worth using, how could I update back to it, now that I've completed the 4.3 softmod guide? I maybe making false assumptions but that wiki page seems to say just install HackMii 0.8 then let the Wii update like normal. If that is really the case then I guess I just need to go back into Priiloader and re-enable online and/or disk updates then let it update. Or maybe there is a System Menu 4.3 wad floating around and I could just install that wad specifically in MMM?

Just hoping for a quick sanity check now that I'm starting to learn enough to be dangerous. Of course I've read the Brick Prevention guide and see how it says not to downgrade the system menu on new Wii's, this is an old first generation one though I believe.

    ~Thanks!~

There are no "behind the scenes improvements." This is marketing shill from Nintendo. 4.3 is a waste of data.

Thats what Nintendo wants you to believe. There is absolutely no enhancements included in 4.3. It was released strictly to disable hacks and no other reason. You should just stick with 4.1 as it is the recommended System Menu.

Awesome news, thanks! You would think a company blatantly lying to its customers would be illegal somehow, but I guess money talks these days.

It all depends on how they define "performance". They may just simply mean that they make your Wii perform the way they want it to.
