I have found that Wii's with the serial numbers beginning with LEH wont read SD Cards. I have tried three in one week without any of them working. Just highlighting this to see if it helps anybody else. I have successfully softmodded two wii"s so its not the SD cards causing the problems, its the readers not working.

maybe your SD card is not compatible, or perhaps it's corrupted.

Ditto. It is very unlikely that three Wii's just happen to have broken SD card readers.

    new question about formatting

I tried using my own sd card that works great in my Wii as the other sd cards failed to be read but still the Wii's failed to read?

i have another question? I have formatted an external hard drive 200gb for movies etc and 300gb for games. I can see the drive for the movies and add to etc on both my computers but I can only add games on the original computer that i formatted the drive with. Wii back-up and WBFS manager is installed on both but the other computer says the drive needs formatted? and the programs dont read the drive either, does this mean only the origanal pc can add games in the future, meaning if the pc broke thats no more games to the hard drive? or have I messed up?

    Wii's not reading SD cards?

I have bought a new sd card 2gb I have tried formatting fat 13/32 even used a sdformatter program downloaded from a link - nothing can make this work in these wii's - i was able to place the new SD card into my soft modded wii and it worked! it is not the sd cards. the wii's read the card as a ? - below is the details of each of the wii's - maybe theres something there that can tell what the problem is

•There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D2B (no cut pins or missing pad).
•And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2R-D2A.

very strange, but do you have a 2Gb sandisk sd card? buy a third one if not wiis are pickie.
to your hard drive issue, drive should be readable on any pc with wbfs manager. if you don't have that much games on it maybe a good point to switch to fat32 loading (guide linked below)

    <--suggestions helped? press Thanks

need help in softmodding versions 4.2 and 4.3 (sd cards not read on these versions)

I think ive found the answer to why the sd cards dont work, the Wii's in question have been updated online 1 is version 4.2e and the other is version 4.3 the owners told me their Wii's were old but forgot to mention they updated them, ive read that you need to play Indiana Jones Original Adventure to softmod these is this the way to go?
