Connecting to a network without damages

    Hi
I bought my Wii 5 months ago in Thailand on a vacation. I didn't ask to many questions, just saw that it works with burnt games.
Now, i want to use my Wii as a streamer using MPlayer CE but i'm afraid to connect it to the internet.
I don't know how it hacked, so i'll be happy if you could help me understand what to do and what not :
    • it was bought in Thailand but all of the menues are in english
    • it plays downloaded and burnt games without any problem (usually i download PAL) but if it can't load it need to use Gecko which came with the wii
    • gecko and homebrew were installed on the machine when i bought it.
    • the man in the shop told me not to connect it to the internet

How can I know how it's hacked?
can i connect it to the network safely without getting it bricked?

    thanks

Wiihacks does NOT support piracy (downloading games).

For the rest, take a look around the forums and make a little "hi" post in the welcome section (you will get a bunch of useful links)

OK, I understand, i don't ask for any info about piracy, just stated the technical situation.

It won't accidently update itself or ask again? I'm afraid that someone will click YES without understanding

I have never come across a wii "Accidently update" itself, I have however come across people who say it did! Take from that what you will!

Install priloader and enable block online and disc updates. Using the internet is fine...

Lol, as the fact that some folks claim to have seen bigfoot is kinda along the same lines.
Sent from my van, down by the river.

It may appear again after the first connection to the WIFI?
I don't think it "Accidently update" itself, I'm afraid that someone in my family will press "update" without noticing
