Just Softmodded Wii. Need some help.

I am trying to play backups of games. However I am having problems.

First of all I didn't see my USB HDD on the working list but I tried it anyways. When I try to load games the Wii just freezes. I am guessing this is because the USB just doesn't work? Maybe someone can help me? I am able to load USB Loader GX and WiiFlow but once I try to load a game it freezes.

Now I am trying to load through Configurable USB Loader and it just told me that I need to update my 249 cIOS to at least Rev 18. I noticed that everyone says Rev 17 is the most stable so would this be a bad idea? It also said I can install 222 so should I try that first although it gives a disclaimer that using that could brick?

Anyways what I am trying to do right now is Load a backup either through USB or SD Card. I have pretty much given up on USB so could someone help me with SD Card?

Ok, so you acknowledge that your usb device, since it is not listed, may not even be compatable or function very well. I think I would start there before going into more complicated areas.

Sounds like you are loading from FAT32/NTFS, if so then install Hermes cIOS222/223 v4 and the 222 revision of Cfg (info in the Cfg guide in my signature).

Of course, if it is the drive...then this won't help.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Well I know that the hard drive is incompatible. I actually have a WBFS Partition on it and it still didn't work.

The problem I am having right now is that I need cIOS for loading from SD Card. Is loading using Hermes 222,223 risky?

No its not, and the warning you read is not specifically about Hermes cIOS. It is a general warning.

All right. Thanks Krank. I will try that tomorrow and if I have any more troubles I will ask here.

Oh, if I partition part of my SD to WBFS then will I not need to install Hermes?

Also, if I have a 4 GB game and my SD card is only 2 GB can I still play it?

No point in partitioning an SD IMO.

No....How would you put a 4GB game on a 2GB sd? (you wouldn't) What softmod guide did you follow?

I thought I read somewhere that you can cut games into parts and then move them to the Wii or something. That way with a 4GB game you would split it up into a few files and move them one by one and then play them. Not sure if thats right.

    I followed this guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

I also had a few questions about that guide. It says not to update HBC. But after I am done with the softmod I can update it right? I can update pretty much everything that asks me except for updating the Wii system itself?

No this is only possible when splitting a game larger then 4GB to play from FAT32. Both parts of the game image still need to be present on the device at the same time for it to work. What you are asking will not work.

    Right.

All right! I managed to play a game off of my SD Card!!!

Now I have a different problem. Some WADs that I try to install give me error -1022.
Do you have any idea how to fix this?

The WADSs for Hermes worked but other WADs don't. They are over 6MB maybe that is why?

    THANKS A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!
