    Bluntly...Lost?

    Hi,

Firstly, knackers wish I'd got here earlier:

I see from Brick prevention tips on this site (now Iíve found it) that Iíve failed in several areas:

    I.e. donít listen to YouTube
And not mess about with CioSCORP, butÖÖ

Just bought a UK Wii PAL. It was v 3.2 and now says 3.4E although I havenít manually updated using the console?

I have installed the following on the SD (2 GB card)

    NeoGammaR8
    homebrew_browser_v0.3.9
    aad1f_v108
    hackmii_installer_v0.8

What i canít figure out is why backup games wonít load using neogamma; I just get DVD read error (1167) no cios

Iíve tried burning 2 iso's to DVD using imgburn, neither work? (Punch out SMG 2)

I then tried adding the contents of cIOSCORP_v3.5_dmm to the apps folder and trying to update. It then tells me:

    CIOS 249 not found.
    You need IOS 16-64-V257.prod.wad

So after watching 20 YouTube videos (boo hiss baaa) and reading hundreds of articles on homebrew Iím in danger of 'brickin' the Wii?

I darenít add any other files, or update to another version....? How best to just start again without any danger to console please? I don't expect a 'spoon fed' guide because if I read these forums I'll find the answers. I'm just worried about wrecking the thing now I've got this far?

maybe you don't have a cIOS then get one
use the softmod any wii guide (link below)
    good luck

edit: no need to worry, follow the guide step by step, it will correct everything you messed up
it will give your wii brick protection and you'll get a nand backup (your wii memory) so you ll be able to restore your wii to that state even if you screwed something up

do a little further reading (on this site here..) ultimate index (link below) helps a lot, guess you don't know exactly what a cIOS is right now..

You only have bootmii and HB installed on your wii. Follow the guide that Vintec pointed you to and you will be all good to go. IOS 58 doesnt = A soft Modded wii....

Ok thanks, I'm work through the softmod guide now.

Need to make sure stuff gets backed up

If for some reason my Wii does get bricked will the nand backup 'always' resolve things?

Only if its installed as boot2. This will get you out of 99.9% of bricks.
Its not recommended to restore the nand when bootmii is installed only as a ios.
But you having an older wii you could possibly have boot2

Bootmii/boot2 shows up when you boot the wii. (need SD inserted with bootmii folder on it) also your dvd drive blue light should flash twice when you power on your wii.

Bootmii/ios only starts when you want it to start, through the HBC (home button).

Huzzah, it works. Both the backup DVD's work fine (SMG2 and Punch Out)

Will try adding an external HDD next, I think.

Thanks for help everyone. Top site!
