    random system files corrupted messages

I get the black "system files corrupted" screen occasionally. Restarting the wii fixes it everytime (except the other day when I pit in a bad wad...oops). I have seen the "latest IOS's & channels as wads" page and noticed that several of my numbers are different, in fact I am missing IOS59 alltogether. 59 was there on my report at one time, but not now. Should I update all of them, or are there reasons for having previous versions? I think some of the versions I have are actually higher than the versions shown on that page. Here is a copy of my report.

    Spoiler

I use usb loadergx with an external hd, not sure if you need to know that. Also have wii connect24 running.......guessing that is not a good idea.

If someone could let me know what I should address it would be highly appreciated!

Unfortunately a problem like this is hard to pin down. It could be a corrupt System Menu, corrupt System IOS, corrupt Message Board. It's hard telling. I suggest that you follow the Softmod Any Wii guide in my signature and downgrade your system to 4.1. Doing that will eliminate the possibility of being your SM or System IOS.

edit: try the above post first..

rev 17 is one I should have seen right off, thanks. Will try those fixes when my son is willing to take a break. I am on 4.2, would downgrading have any benefit?

well it will install a new system menu... Which means if doing this and your problem persists you can cancel that it was a corrupt system menu off the list....

Could I just reinstall 4.2? If I downgrade or just reinstall 4.2 will I have to remod the wii?

Yes you could but if you don't know what you are doing then it can be dangerous. Thats why I pointed you to the Softmod Any Wii guide to safely install a new SM. If you are comfortable with doing so then you can download your System Menu 4.2 using NUS Down loader and install it with Wadmanager but please, please be sure you install the correct one. In your case 4.2U.

I followed the guide yesterday - Brought me up to date and I found it quite easy to follow.Downgraded my system menu as well. To o/p 4.2 and 4.3 system menus were just designed to hit HB hard in the nuts......

    Thank you for the warning!

I have read the guide several times. I figured the if I did decide to mess with the sm I would be using dopmii to do so. I am under the impression that that is safe. I am getting all of the other stuff in order right now to add/change the missing/incorrect IOS. I just bricked myself 2 days ago and will be triple checking the things I do from now on. My son is very upset that I lost his savegame files........which I should have been able to save if I had done the correct research before restoring the nand.
