    Unhappy System info menu blackscreen

Here is the story. My sister bought a Wii(used) after she played my softmodded Wii. I got to her house and try to see what sys ver. it has but every time it black screened. I say I'll try the 3.1-4.1 route and if it bricks take it back and say it never worked. It worked fine but still no sys info menu. It wouldn't be a problem if the sensitivity didn't need to be adjusted. It is kinda hard to pin down a frog when the pointer shakes violently.

I was thinking I could use DOP-Mii to install IOS 60 but for all I know it could need IOS 50.
I just don't want to brick her Wii since she passed the 30 day period to take it back.

    Any ideas?

Yeah... If you want to install system menu 4.1 then you must first install IOS60 v6174 with all patches enabled. Then install system menu 4.1.

Do this guide instead!!! Don't do the 3.1-4.1. It should fix your problem.

edit: Someone has installed the wrong Menu on your system maybe using Mymenuify. Following the guide I linked will istall all the files you need for all menues.

@Krafter It sounds like some type of corrupt system menu. He needs to reinstall a system menu 3.1, 4.1 or whatever to recover that menu. Of course if the wii isn't modded yet then I recommend following the guide you suggested. However, the issue won't be fixed until the system menu is reinstalled.

@OP Just be sure to install the correct system menu IOS before installing a system menu version. E.g. IOS60 for system menu 4.1 or IOS70 for 4.2 etc. If you install to a stub you will brick. If you follow Maui's guide and then upgrade to 4.1 you will be all set.

I was just trying to cover all bases and I know that the Softmod Any Wii guide does just that. It's more of a precaution.

No IOS60 is for system menu 4.1 only!! Do not install system menu 4.2 unless you first install IOS70.

Edit: Regarding your edit... Thank god. I was scared for a minute.

Again, thats why I pointed him to the Softmod Any Wii guide. It's a one stop shop for any menu prior to 4.3. No confusion associated with it since he doesn't know what he has now.

Yeah... I need to dumb down my instructions a bit. Wow, I assume my instructions are clear however, somehow it still gets messed up. Your right the best approach is to send people to the guide as it will keep them out of trouble.

I had a situation the other day where I had a feeling the person wouldn't listen so I had him install both IOS60 and IOS70. I told him to install system menu 4.1 but he installed 4.2 against my instructions. Good thing I had him install IOS70 as well.

You don't need top dumb them down, I need to smart up!

I really just confused myself by thinking about this the wrong way.

I followed the guides with my Wii and my brother's, but with this one it has been a lot of guessing.
