    Exclamation Softmod Wii 4.3U

Here what happened to me...I got a great deal on a Wii 60 bucks...well I decided to softmod it. Which I did with no problem. I belive it was an 4.1 version. Anyway. I had it working great after a lot of education to get it moded. Well when I was setting up my internet connection it updated.....bummer...it wiped out my HC. I was pissed.
One call to Gamestop and I picked up Lego Indiana Jones The original adventures....followed the instruction to get in the back door to start a fresh mod. Which worked...after a dozen or so tries...I think mostly because I didn't know what I was doing. Well finally I got it downgraded and moded.

Here is my delemma now. i am wanting to re-upgrade my system however, I want to keep the 4.3U system and still have the functanality for the HC and playing my backup games. When I install the latest cIOS 249 rev 17 or 19 it will not read my SDHC cards..it will on cios 249 rev 10 or 12 but nothing higher.
I am wondering with a fresh install of update...then a fresh mod again but stay with the 4.3u system if this will help my problem with reading my sdhc cards.. not to mention will I have to worry about my update notice everytime I put in a backup game..so I can launch games from the main menu for DVD instead of NeoGamma?? Any input will be much welcomed and any advice.

    Thanks

you did this guide from this site?
it covers everything you are asking for. like installing priiloader, blocking disc and online updates.
installing latest cios. you can stay at 4.3 when you do this guide but downgrading 4.1 is recommended as the other updates have nothing inlcuded to improve functonality.
your sdhc card problem isn't cios related, almost 100% sure, you tried to format them or buy another brand.. and at what ocasion they do not work? in a game loader in a mediaplayer?

edit: loading through disc channel only works with cios corp installed, not recommended, or with a modchip installed. i would keep the discs, get a nice usb harddrive, do the softmodding, and jump into usb loading. if you are lazy you can boot directly in a loader like wiiflow (check it out at youtube) browse your gamecollection (forget to say flip in your discs and save them to your harddrive using wiiflow).

    good luck
do the guide again, read carefully

First, I'd like to point out, 4.3 has nothing extra over 4.1 over than the anti-hack stuff. In the case of a hacker, it would be better to keep 4.1 since there's no piracy and hack protection. Therefore, I'd suggest that you keep 4.1

Secondly, I don't think upgrading will fix your SDHC problem, the Wii has always been picky about SDHC Cards. Formatting would most likely fix this. If you want help with the SDHC problem, you can ask in this thread (What are you using with the SDHC? What happens? What Error? etc)

Thirdly, if you mean wanting to load discs straight from the disc channel instead of using Neogamma. It is only possible by installing DARKCorp. This software is very dangerous is it does huge system changes. If you plan on installing it, I'd recommend you do alot of research.

Well I don't really get an error message when using SDHC card with rev 14 and up...it just won't mount the sdhc card....I can get it to work with cIOS rev 12 and lower...I just don't understand. I was told that a IOS 70 or somthing like that controls the SDHC reader. I was wondering if with a fresh install of all modding software will give me a fresh IOS's then I can add the new cIOS's. So you all suggest not redoing my update and then remodding it. I just dont understand why the sdhc card works with rev 12 and below, but nothing higher. I'm stumped. I figured with a fresh intall of everything I will be able to better track everything now that I am a little more educated on the modding process. Let me know thanks for the quick replies!!

    Full IOS list and function

this is a full list of IOS and the up to date version you can update your set by using Dopmii on your own.
but in advance, you can do things worth with it, read everthing carefully, don't mess carelessly, don't install any stub. do a dopmii report before or a syscheck to check which ios needs an update.

How to post a syscheck: Instructions here

again don't update to 4.3, nothing special there.

ok I used dopmii to update many IOS. there are a few I decided not to do which was ios36....what would happen if I made it up to date? I updated ios9 - 35 and 37-70. There were a few that I didn't understand... about ios that control the system menu etc...i didn't want to update them... lets see. I still don't understand the issue with cios 36 rev10-it lets my sdhc card work....when I update to cios38 rev 12-it lets my sdhc card work. However anything in the cios revisions that are higher than 12 don't allow my sdhc card to work.
This makes me belive that the code of the newer cios is screwing it up. However some games won't play unless I use updated cios revisions. I would really like to fix this issue since I do know that my sdhc card works on the wii....its just when I update the cios versions it stops...hummm...any thoughts other than its picky about sdhc cards...it works...just when the new custom input/ output revisions are applied, it will stop working.
Is it ok to update all of my ios in dopmii...I mean all....will it brick my wii? Also why when I updated my wii on accident did I have a new system menu....you know the one with the sd card in the lower left corner. But when I downgraded to 4.1 it is still there, shouldn't it show the old menu without the pic of the sd card???

Thanks for the help vinatec...its been very helpful...just one more question..thanks

don't you have the possibilty to borrow another sdhc card from a friend just to test if that is working with the newer cios. so you know you can sell your old card and get a new one from a different brand to get it running (guess you tried a full format etc) also i recommend to switch to full usb harddrive loading

i am not an ios guru. should be safe to update everything to the latest versions (just dont install any stub ios)
IOS 36 (v3351)(v3607): everything in green is always the latest version given by a 4.3 update. with dopmii v13 you should be able to apply all patches again (on36, leave the rest unpatched, or even unpatch 36 again after adding cIOS stuff etc. also a copy of an patched 36 can be placed in slot 236 if you need that at a later point).
but i would wait for another reply, or browse the forum to find an answer. i believe the softmod any wii guide would give you also a full set of updated ios.

4.1 introduced the sd slot button. would disaappear when you downgrade even further, just stay there.

for sure, glad i could help

    cheers

Wow. I finaly figured this thing out. OK My 8g PNY SDHC card wouldn't work with my Wii in WBFS format. So I thought it was my CIOS....well since my sdhc card would work in FAT32 format. Meaning I could load homebrew and applications off of it. When I would try and format it WBFS it wouldn't mount in neogamma. My 2g SD card would work fine. Well here is what I did!

I decided to go through the whole softmod again...inluding down grading and loading the system menu 4.1...I went throught he whole thing. And then tried my sdhc card aging with no prevail...
Then I started reading more about people paritioning the SDHC card...So I did. I will prevail.....

The only way I got it to work finaly was with the right settings for the partitoning its self.

    1. Partitoned with Mini Tool Partion software
    2. Paritioned the smallest size I could in FAT32 on the first partiton....making it LOGICAL parition
    3. Partitioned the rest of the space in FAT32....making it LOGICAL as well.
    4. Then I converted the LOGICAL....second partiton (largest partiton) to PHYSICAL partion
    5. It made this partion activly E: on my system....I was unable to access the small FAT-LOGICAL-Small partion through windows.
    6. Ran WBFS manager and formated the Large partiton....copied over a game
    7. Ran NEOgamma R8, IOS249 (Rev 19)
    8. Tried to mount SD card ........FINALY.......IT MOUNTED!!! I was amazed I must say....

I'm wondering if this works on most of those SDHC cards everyone cant use on the WII for WBFS??? I hope somone out there comes across the same problem I was having and used this method with as well to solve there problem. Might be a big find on my part...never know. Anyways...let me know your thoughts.
