Can't get USB Loader to load games

    First time using USB Loader
I can get USB Loader to work fine, but once I start the game I just get a black screen.

I used this to install USB Loader and to partition my hard drive

Edit: After reading this guide it says:

    A. Used HDD: a used HDD may have bad or damaged sectors; before proceeding, run the PC Chkdsk /r command. Now that any bad sectors have been marked or fixed, proceed to Step 1.

Would this be the cause? The hard drive I'm using is a Maxtor that is about 8 years old

Not sure what guide I used to softmod since I did it over a year ago, but I did use Part B and Part C of this guide a couple of days ago.

Wii is version 4.2U and using cios38rev14

This guide wasn't much different from what I already did. The only thing I didn't do was to fix the damaged sectors if there were any, or to consider other options, which I may try if this doesn't work.

but important info is still missing.
is it not working for any game or only some? and then which?
maybe its easier if you do a syscheck, to check if modding and doing something of this and that guide did work out in a way..
How to post a syscheck: Instructions here
    to you question: could be..
if your drive is running fine under windows you can still try to get everything working without stupid chkdsk.
but then. what did you format your drive to? using wbfs and a fat32 partation? did you mark the game partition as primary and active etc.?

I only tried 2 games, both didn't work (Xenoblade and Metroid Other M)

    Syscheck

I formatted my drive to Fat32 and made it active (for the wbfs partition)

oehm. so there are 2 partitions, or you have one fat32 partition and don't know what to do with it? like a wbfs folder you maintain with wii game manager?
can't get it what you ve done to your drive to load games. fat32 usb loading guide in my sig

edit: don't know if these newer titles run with rev14 at all. get rev 17 or 20 (also in sig)

I formatted it as a fat32 partition first and then I used the WBFSManager and formatted it to the WBFS...should I change to fat32? (I'm using 2 partitions btw)

Sorry, I'm still not too familiar with terms...which guide is that? Is it this one?

It should be worth noting that...
    Release date(s)

... Metroid Other M is not out in ANY region yet, and therefore is the leaked copy that I have seen shut down at least 3 threads now in the newbie section. Also...
    Release date(s)
... Xenoblade is not out in NA region as of yet, and may also be a pirated copy.

    Thanks for playing.

just couldn't get if you have two partitions or not, actually partioning it first and leaving the first partition as it is until you format it with wbfs manager is the better way.
until you only have two games on it so far..
go to your partioning tool, remove everything. put in a game partition, dont format it, mark it as primary and active, partition the rest of the drive, 2gb is more than enough if you don't want to put videos or similiar on it.
    format that to fat32.
reuse wbfs manager to get the first partition to wbfilesystem, put your games on it.

if you are not so familiar with terms maybe you would be better with one of the guides
something like this How to setup cIOS use it with the rev17 installer.
and this one if you like to have some alternatives to the cIOS 249.
if you run into trouble don't hesitate to ask the question in the thread of the guide you are using.

    good luck.

Indeed, if ppl are not making backups of their original retail games, it is impossible to know the integrity of the backups they are using. Therefore discussion of the fact that they are not working is pointless as it indicates nothing to help their situation become resolved with assistance from the community.
