Exclamation USB HDD Hangs on loads - need help!

I recently recieved a passed down Wii that was already softmodded. I have been able to play games by backing up my games to DVD-R.

I just purchased a "Vantec SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter". I was hoping to use my old IDE drives (WD 60 Gig, 2x200 Gig) as a USB HDD backup for the wii. I read up on how to prep the HDD; deleted the partitions/made active primary, didnt format through windows but rather through WBFS manager and loaded the games on the HDD. EXACTLY that way.

Windows of course doesnt see the HDD and wants me to format. WBFS manager loads the drive and sees the games, thus a success (?)

Plug the USB HDD into the wii which was already loaded with some USB loaders. Tried WiiFlow, hangs on please wait. Tried USB Loader GX, hangs on init USB device. When i say hangs up, it stays loading for a solid 15 mins before i say its a no go. Downloaded wiiflow and stuck it on the SD card, same problem. Had also USB loader 1.x's (1.5 and some other ver), both give me an error about no WBFS found...? Again - WBFS manager loads the drive and lists the games on the HDD, windows recognizes the USB is connected and displaying the drive but not reading it due to the partition.

I have tried since to, kindve, reload some ios's but since this was a hand me down i have NO idea where to start. I was even wondering if i should virgize it.

Wii is running 4.2u - should i run the system update VIA Wii, Should i virginize it or is this a problem that can easily be fixed with another cIOS?

Are your hard drives listed here
I know it is more "problem" with IDE drives than SATA.

Don't run system update from Nintendo online.
No need to virginize your Wii
    What cIOS are installed? versions?
Do you connect to the right USB port? (port 0), the lower one.

    Working

Got it to work. The recent download from the WiiFlow website also stuck a ISO 222 on my SD card as well as 2 WiiFlow loaders (249, 222). I loaded the 222 ISO along with all the default other ISO's (still new at this, no idea what the other ISO's are), loaded WiiFlow (222) works.

Wont work in other USB loaders though.

My HDD is a wd600 (60 gig), tried one of my 200 gigs and working on that also.

Now i have to learn about adding channels :X

BTW - if someone reads this... is it worth getting into the nintendo channel(s)? Anything relating to nintendo wont let me get into their channels because it says my wii is out of date and refers me to the system update. But everything i have read has said "dont" do that update. Is this correct?

    Ok, great.
You can install/update channels with the tool DOP-Mii v13.
    download here: http://www.wiihacks.com/homebrew-app...3-arikado.html
    Guide: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...w-dop-mii.html

And with DOP-Mii you can run a Syscheck and post the result here
