Updating softmod from 3.4E to 4.1. Error 116 when running FW Updater 4.1

    Hi guys,

I had installed softmod 3.4E a while back and I'm trying to update to 4.1.

I followed the 3.1-4.1 Softmod ANY wii guide here - http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

All works fine until step 4 ("Update System Menu")
    - Since i was 3.4, i did "install IOS60-patched first with Wad Manager using IOS249" - this worked fine.
    - I then tried to run Firmware Updater 4.1 and get "error 116". Which is a "network connection" issue... but looks like really, because I had a previous softmod, it can't find something it needs...

    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-wii-531.html

Looks like the solution is to install FW 4.1 manually .... BUT, what exactly do I do?

Some of the posts talk about running US FW 4.1 (mine is PAL, so i will need 4.1E... but can someone link me to a correct version? Do I just install with Wad Mgr ISO249, same way as I installed patched IOS60?)

I couldn't find 4.1E on wiihacks. Found 4.1E here http://gamrr.com/wii-hacks-homebrew/...menu-wads.html ... assume I can just run this, but a bit hesitant to run any old WADs on a whim.

Alternatively, some people talk about running preloader 0.3v4 .. should i do this instead, or is one or the other fine?

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Scott.

Have you tried running the 4.0 FW updater prior to running the 4.1? There is a link for the 4.0 updater in Dogeggs guide also.

Nope. Guide said that was if you have 3.1... but might give it a shot too.
    Cheers.

Yeah - saw that in the error guide, but my internet connection is working fine.

Looks to me like I have to update manually like the guy in my 2nd link. But just trying to work out how to go about it.

thatfloorguy - put Updater 4.0 on my SD card too, but its a .dol .. how do i run it?? (4.1 is builtin to my homebrew channel and i just click on it. Assume i need to load 4.0 manually through something else that can run .dol?)

Not sure abt this, but I can try to use bluedump to dump it as a wad for you. I would wait for verification from a more experienced member as to if it would be safe to install, if I can even dump it that is. I will check back when I get home from work if the issue has been resolved or not.

    SystemMenu-PAL-v450.rar

Use WinRar to extract the sysmenu wad file. Copy the wad to your SD card and use Wad Manager to install (leave at the default settings of IOS249 and SD card slot)

be sure you installed IOS60patched and then sysmenu.wad.

Thanks Cile. I was unable to dump as I am on 4.2U and was not about to run the updater, LOL. I was going to link him to this to try and download the required SM as a wad. I have never used it myself, but after a quick readthrough it appears to have that capability, well for windows users anyway.
