Just got a new WII...now what?

Just bought my first wii (i was a xbox 360 guy) from bestbuy (the black one) and im wanting to mod it but not sure which method is best chipped or soft...to start off with it has the 4.3 update on it and from my limited knowledge its a little harder to softmod than the older ones. i dont need to be able to rip games or anything but i do want to be able to get homebrew stuff and play games from a USB HDD or back them up to DVDR if possible. I saw the WODE on modchip centrals site and it really blew me away how easy it seemed to be to install and get working...like i said i was a 360 guy and it was nowhere that easy. but the price tag is quite a bit higher than the chips alone. im guessing i have the latest dvd drive so im not sure if thats bad or good? What do you guys recommend?

Personally, everything I want to do and more can be done with a soft mod, which is why I did it. Not to mention, as long as you already have the external HDD, it's free! The downside being it can require a LOT of upkeep to maintain IOS's, but there is plenty of help here. Please note, you will not be able to play DVD-R backups on your wii, as the new ones cannot read DVD-R files any longer, and for 4.3 the only method requires a retail copy of Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures or Super Smash Brothers Brawl. You can use this guide...

yep, i saw that guide before i posted and stopped when i got to the point that said i needed one of those 2 games which i dont have. and when i soft modded my 360 (before i was banned) i was constantly patching ISO's and updating this and that. And i guess i failed once and thats how i was banned from xbox live...anyways i guess thats why the WODE caught i eye. does it do the same things at a other chip and the softmods? all i need it playing ISO's from hdd and homebrew channel

I'm not a wode guy, but here is the section on this site for it. Maybe it'll help you more then I can. LOL.

Personally, rent of borrow a copy of one of the games you need for the 4.3 softmod. I am VERY satisfied with my softmod, and would recommend it to anyone interested in USB gaming. It's just too convenient to pass up.
