    USB Thumb Drive, Please Help

I have finally got my Wii softmodded and am having some technical difficulty with my thumb drives.

I went out and bought a Lexar JD Firefly USB JDFF8GB-00-5005 8GB and when I tried to transfer a game (4.7G) onto the thumb drive I would get a message saying that the file size is too large (Can only hold 4.0G) for the drive. So I went and traded it for a Kingston Data Traveler 8GB. It is also giving me the same results. They are both on the USB Compatibility List as working. If anyone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong, that would be very helpful.

Any game over 4GB will require you to format your drive as NTFS. It is probably formatted as FAT32 right now.

Not true. Simply use Wii backup manager to transfer your ISO, choose to convert to .wbfs file. If the file is still larger then 4GB it will auto split it and play like normal. Have a look at the FAT32 Guide in my signature for more info.
    Damn I suck!!!!

Agreed! However I was taking the knowledge of the user into account. Somebody who doesn't know 4GB FAT32 limitation may not easily understand .wbfs file system and what that really means. I guess I need to give people more credit????

The problem with the response of formatting as NTFS is that will lead the OP to USB loader and cIOS functionality issues. While the issues can be addressed, the Stax might not know that and probably would prefer an easier route to game play.

Krank, your guide is not working for me. I get stuck on part 3 of Formatting since the USB drive does not show up on the list.

Alternate formatting Option 1 Will work for a flash drive. Option 2 might as well but I didn't test it with a flash drive.

If you check Gen3sf's guide I think there is more info on getting a flash drive recognized, if the alt options don't work for you.
