    Wii HD USB issues

So I am trying to use my external hdd for my games....all is well it works, however I would also like to use my external for movies....problem there because I format for the WBFS Manager and when I move the movie using a right click send to method it is saying that I have used 116 gigs of 250 and I only have one movie and one game

What do I need to do so this all works in tandem?

Using windows 7 and a seagate expansion 250gb external

You need a separate FAT32 Partition or NTFS partition for movies. Movies won't work off of WBFS file system.

Here is how I have set up my HDD

    2 partitions

1 - NTFS (I use this for movies and personal data)
2 - FAT32 (Wii games and other files)

I use a program called Wii backup manager to load games onto the drive
there is a tutorial here - http://sites.google.com/site/complet...backup-manager(Moderators sorry but I cannot find a wiihacks tutorial or the official site, feel free to edit if necessary)

All my games are on the Fat32 partition and are fully visible to my pc and to wiiflow 2.1 (Recommended USB loader by me)
you find a tutorial for setting up wiiflow here > Wiiflow USB Loader: Installation and Settings By Ithian

    hope this helps

    Edit:
Your FAT32 partition must be formatted with a 32KB cluster size. (so I'm told)
You could in theory have one large fat32 partition but be aware FAT32 does not allow a file to be added that is over 4GB dont worry most of the games will be less than this

That is what I was going to do, I will have to break it into thirds, using one part for data, one for movies and one for games

mmm...the data you speak of is that for the wii i.e apps wads etc if so the can coexist on the same partition as the games i.e

    My fat32 drive stucture
    /wbfs (games)
    /apps
    /wiiflow

I probably have some others on there but this is what i know I have at moment.

If its not wii related data there is no reason not to just put it on ntfs, apps like wiimc just ignore data they cant read.

When I mentioned introductions, I meant going to the Introductions Thread. You'll get a wealth of useful info once one of our mods welcomes you to the community. As for playing back movies on a HDD, my set up is as follows:

1st partition - WBFS (game backups)
2nd partition - FAT32 (Marked as Primary and Active) Homebrew, media (pictures, audio and movies; WiiMC as my media player)

An easy-to-use setup and I still have about 100GB of unallocated space in case I decide to expand either partition.
