Im Stuck Making a NAND backup

HI I have just completed the first step of ""Full hacking guide for 4.2 system menus!!!!"" and on bootmii option I prepared the SD card and installed as boot2, from there I exited back to the homebrew channel and then went to follow the steps to making a NAND backup, only problem is I don't know how to actually find the Bootmii menu, so without resetting the wii, I tried taking the sd card out and reinserting it hoping it would load automatically but it didn't..

I only get the wii homepage but this time it includes the hbc..

should I reload the SD card to get to the were i need to backup the NAND..

Sorry this is my first time and after searching the site, I couldn't find much info on NAND other then that little section in the tutorial I'm following...

    Thanks

    THANK YOU!!! It worked....

One problem tho, I tried using the eject button on the console to navigate and that didn't work, so I then tried the reset button also on the console & that failed too. As did all the buttons on the wii controller, excluding A & home buttons..

I'm guessing I need a gamecube controller to navigate, ""which I don't have at the moment"" would it be such a big deal if i went ahead with the tutorial and then made a backup say in a few says.

scratch that, the power button worked lol....

Power=Browse and Reset=Select if they dont work you need gc controller....dont move on untill you make that nand back up ....its a back of your nand before you install cios etc if you ever want to restore your wii to the point where you wii wasnt moded(with just hbc and bootmii) that would be the nand to do it....a must have

The NAND backup includes everything on your Wii .. including channels, game saves, stats, etc. Think of it as something like a system restore for Windows. Making a nand backup is like making a restore point, then restoring that nand backup is like restoring your wii to exactly how it was when you made that specific backup/restore point.

You can make as many nand back ups as you want of your wii at different stages. And if anything ever goes wrong, you can restore the latest nand backup you have so you won't have to reinstall everything. Hold onto the first nand backup you make, because it is the backup you have that is the closest to being a virgin so your most valuable backup

OK so far so good, backing up the NAND has completed, and with only 2bad blocks, yippy lol...

If I can trouble you again, once the backup is done should I continue onto step B, since this is my first time ever hacking the wii, because I think my system menu was updated to 4.2E a very long time ago, and IOS249 could be an empty ios ("stub"). Or will it not hurt if I try and it doesn't work then proceed to step B.

just completed steps A,B & C successfully, now hbc wants to updated 1.0.5 to 1.0.6?

Sorry guys for all the dumb questions, I am a total beginer with anything wii related lol..

I have just completed steps A,B & C successfully, before I started on PART D: Getting the backup launchers to work : the optionals I went back into the homebrew channel to confirm that ios249rev14 is installed correctly, but when accessing the hbc I received a popup saying that An update to the hbc (version 1.0.6, replacing 1.0.5) is available for install, would it be wise to just disregard this update for now?

    Thanks for all the help

Once the bulk of your mod is done [everything before optionals] you can upgrade your HBC just fine.

Ok bar the update of hbc 1.0.5 to 1.0.6 everything else seems in working order.. I just loaded the neogamma and it loads giving me options to play dvd's so thanks heaps, its been a long time coming lol..

in regards to the hbc update after I select to update and then the update does its thing with all returning a successful messages. I get to the hackmii page, the first page were the options are install/uninstall hbc, install/uninstall dvdx, install/uninstall bootmii, so from there I just hit exit and then it restarts, but after restart it re-asks if i want to update...

NOT sure why but im sure its a simple mistake which ill search the site for answers, a little later tho lol,, I want to go get some games now =)

    errrrr.....
do i feel stupid lol, maybe i should of scrolled down to the instructions before updating lol....
MY BAD, after update did its thing I was meant to actually install the hbc channel again..

guess i was looking in the wrong place for the answers, but hey for someone that knows nothing about wii's, I think I did OK...
