    Burning Backups

Hey guys! Great info you guys have here.
I have successfully soft-modded my Wii (4.2U). I'm currently running; NeoGamma R8 beta 1, IOS249 (Rev 14). For now, I mount games on my flash drive and they play great on the Wii. I now decided I want to burn games on a DVD instead. I've been told Verbatim DVD-r at speed of 2x-4x works best. I would just like to know if the current version I have will play these backups, before I go out and buy a pack of Verbatim.

I tried burning the ISO using memorex dvd-r for the games that worked on the flash drive.
    1. Nero - 2x, played for about a minute then froze.
    2. imgburn - 2x, didn't play at all. Time out error.

So, I'm guessing the problem is the disc? Thanks for the help.

How old is your Wii? Newer consoles have new DVD drives that aren't able to read backup disc.

    -Wii Menu 4.2U / DARKCORP v1.1 / BootMii as boot2 / Preloader v0.30-
    -USB HDD / Wiiflow 2.0 / Triiforce / VC Image-Pack / cIOS Wads-

If they even load at all I doubt it is your drive chip. Did you select write image file to disc, when using ImgBurn? Also update to rev 17 (Cios 249). I have used sony and verbatim, no problems with either. It is normal to get a bad burn on occaision, or a bad iso, but if this is the same iso that works from a flash drive it should be fine
Look here, if you don't have the rev 17 installer in your apps folder.

I did select write image file to disc. I updated to rev 17 (Cios 249). I still get time out, using memorex dvd-r.

If this helps, here's my chipset.

    LU66473XXXX
Your drive most likely has the following chipset:
    * There is a 75% chance the chipset is Combined GC2-D3 with no drive chip.
    * And there is also a 25% chance the chipset is GC2-D2E and covered in black glue.

Id have to say that its not a bad iso or burn. Buying a wii in December 2009 probably has the chip set that wont allow backups to load. Not to mention that method is out dated. Look at it this way. Playing any backup game on your wii causes the drive to work harder to read the disc thus wearing the laser out quicker. This is one reason why people use HDD instead of disc methods.
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me by pressing the little thanks button.

Not 100% true when he has put his serial number through the wii database and it came back with results

Mine has this chipset and and works fine although I do use a usb hdd.

The only other way you can fully tell what chipset you have is by opening her up but I wouldnt advise it
