Thread: My external HDD stopped working, any ideas?

    Looks to me like the enclosure got some problem at the first place, of course when the enclosure is problematic, you will not know whether the HDD is good or not.

    By right, if the HDD fails but the enclosure is working, when you plug it into the computer, you should see the "removable hardware" thing appear in the system tray, even if you may not be able to access the HDD.

    Suggest you try to change a enclosure and see how. One enclosure can be as cheap as 20 dollar or even less. My 25 dollar one works perfrectly with WII, by the way

    I'll look to see if I can get a hold of one tomorrow. Thanks so much for all the help, both of you were really helpful and I appreciate it.

    As for now I've gotta go to bed, it's the wee hours of the morning where I live and staying up this late really isn't healthy.
