SD Card mounting problems, simple Yes/No Answer required

New to the whole softmodding thing for Wii so please be patient, I've been used custom PSP firmware for ages but that's a different story...

I go to install BootMii after putting in my SD card (4GB Kingston SDHC card, formatted in FAT32 at 32) and it says Mounting SD card...

    FAILED (-1)

    > Continue

Simple question, is it because the SD card is over 2GB? I need to know whether or not to buy a new one because I bought the wrong one... thanks.

What system menu are you on? You need to be on system menu 4+ to use cards that are over 2gbs. If your system menu is over 4.0+ then it can be because of your SD card. It is recommended to use a 2GB SanDisk SD card when softmodding and backing up your NAND.

V4.2E, and I don't have a 2GB SanDisk SD but I should probably get one... Would this temporarily suffice though?

Yes you should still be able to softmod your wii. Your probably won't be able to make a NAND backup though.

Awesome. I'm going to try a post I just found (via google btw, not the in-forum search browser) using a Panasonic formatting tool. Apparently it worked for another forum user, so I'll give it a shot and post my results. According WiiBrew, this card has been tested and worked...

Sigh. The SD card still cannot be mounted in the BootMii menu. Any suggestions?

Okay - Admin can lock/delete thread now

The problem is the Kingston 4GB has been shown to work, but only CLASS 6 cards. For anyone looking into this, ensure it is CLASS 6

or better yet, get a damn SanDisk 2GB SD card. For other Ausfailians, MSY computers sells them for $9.
