Shopping list for updating 4.1E to use usb hdd

Hi guys due to ill health i havent been able to do anything with my wii since i softmodded (Using Bannerbomb-CIOS v7) it a while back.I am now in a position to have a go at updating it and i ultimately want to install wiiflow to use on my usb hdd (A WD-WD3200ME_00 4508A).After reading many of the excellent guides here on wiihacks i have gathered some awesome info but just wanted to ask your opinions as to what items need to go on my "Shopping list" to install on my wii.I got some great help gen3sf in this thread:

http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...y-wii-719.html

In that thread it was suggested that i dont need to virginise my wii but update it using Doggeggs TUT.I was hoping that your responses would look something like this:

1)Update using Dogeggs TUT
2)Install *&^%$%£&&
3)Now install *^&%$£"$$%

You get the idea,BTW i am on firmware 4.1E and the console was bought in late 2008 i havent installed anything else i.e. Priiloader,WAD manager etc so if you guys know of any good guides relating to the individual steps in your "Shopping list" that would be great too.I know it seems like i am asking alot but i am just about getting back on my feet.Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

This thread and that thread would be good starting points.

Hi nightstah thanks thanks for getting back to me so soon,regarding the threads you posted above i had found them whilst trawling the site but in the first one you listed it states:

If you're on system menu 3.1-4.1, use the guide by Dogeggs FOUND HERE. If you're on system menu 4.2, use the guide by ShadowSonic2 FOUND HERE.
So as i'm on 4.1 i'm guessing this guide is no good for me??!! and continue to use Doggeggs TUT as i planned to?

Also in the second thread (which looks extremely useful) it mentions using USB Loader GX,is it possible to replace this loader with Wiiflow in the steps listed in the second thread as i specifically want Wiiflow?

Thanks for your help so far.

That's not what it says re: first linked post. Please re-read it below with the emphasis added:

On your other question, you can have as many loaders as you want (Neo Gamma, USB Loader GX, WiiFlow --- incidentally updated to 2.0 recently, Configurable USB Loader, etc). Just make sure the loader supports whatever format you opt to put your HD in (myself, I have my entire drive as WBFS; there are folks who opt for FAT/FAT32 instead, but some loaders only work on certain formats).

Apologies for my ignorance nightstah,was concentrating on the big red letters and did'nt see the small print~:[QUOTEThis is for people who softmodded a while back and want to be back up to date. This requires wi-fi. You might want to do a NAND Backup with bootmii if you can.

]
So after using the first guide what system menu will i be up to? my assumption is that i will still be on 4.1 which is fine if this is the case.

So next thing is to do a NAND backup then before i start with the first guide.....hmmm will have to find a guide.

Also in step 7 in the first guide it states[QUOTEIf you plan on using USB HDDs, highlight and install USB Loader GX r929.wad.
]
so am i right in assuming that any usb loader that you want to use including Wiiflow should be placed in that wad folder and can be installed from there? If this is the case do i nedd to bother with the second guide you listed?

Sorry for all the noob questions lol

If you don't understand something relating to one or the other thread, might be best to search the threads and if what you need isn't apparent, to post the questions within a given thread.
