    PS2 Singstar Mics on Wii

I've done some searching and found conflicting answers,

Some people say yes you can use ps2 singstar mics on a wii, some people say no, some answer even though they don't know and some make out that you're really stupid for even suggesting a sony product would work on a nintendo!

I've tried them on our wii and they don't work.

Now I just need to find out if they just won't work? Or if I haven't got the correct IOS installed to allow usb mics to work in the other USB port (I use the main USB for the HD), or if it's the games I tried?

Any ideas? Anyone managed to get them to work?

I just get the message on screen saying please connect a logitech microphone etc.

The mics I was connecting were proper PS2 singstar mics, a red and a blue one which plug into a block which then plugs into the USB port

I have a 4.1E Wii soft modded using the guide on here

I dont know if theyll work or not but you need hermes cios 202/222/223 to run mics. Also needs to be patched to run of ios222/223 cant really remember which one.

I know they won't work as I have 2 of them with the adaptor... I just bought 2 guitar hero mics from Gamestation for 10 pound, a usb hub for a fiver and now all runs fine...

It just seems strange, there are people like yourself who are experienced who also can't get them to work, then I've seen other posts, I think one was even a mod on here who said they did work.

Looks like I'll have to get some logitech mics off ebay.

Possibly not, although I did a friends 4.2E wii the other day and I definatley did the relevant parts on that one as I remember the guide mentioning them

Mine was an already soft modded 3.1E which just played backup discs, I wanted to play off USB so followed this guide:

    http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-softmod.html

Which I can't see any mention of those IOS's (202/222/223) so I guess I didn't do it and they weren't done before!

I still have the files I placed on the SD card from when I updated my friends 4.2E wii, would I be safe to use those on mine and follow the following instruction:

You can now install ios202, ios222, ios223. From HBC, run cios222 installer and select ios249 to use. At the next screen, choose the following, one at each turn:
-ios202, for usb - using ios38 (needed for USB2.0 support at Media Players)
-ios222, for uloader - using ios38 (needed for USB support of instruments and stuff)
-ios223 mainly for GH5 - using ios38 merged with 37 (same as above)

Is it correct to use ios249? on mine?

    Thanks for the help everyone!

yes you can use CIOS 222 installer from the other sd card, wouldn't make a difference.... But installing Hermes CIOS wont make the PS2 singstar mics work as I have tried all options before I went to buy specific wii mics..

Lol, the mics wrere definatly working mics, but I remember reading up on some website, that its to the with the twin port hub that the mics connect to as it cant talk to the wii for whatever reason... the lights came on when u plug the mics in but the wii singing games just wouldnt register the mic and kept asking to plug one in...

But if he does get it working then fair play and I would lurvve to know how... If no-one ever tried because someone said it didnt work for them, we wouldnt have some of the software we already have on the wii..

Installing the cios222 thing seems to have knackered up the HBC!!

I went into cios222 installer, and followed the instructions, I installed 222 with base 38, all seemed to go well and I returned to HBC. I then reloaded cios222 installer and went to 223 then on the next page I had a nagging voice in my head saying I wasn't 100% sure I clicked 223 (I was 99.9% sure I had) so to be sure I pressed B to abort so I could make sure. This returned me to HBC. I then went to cios222 installer again but it just gave me a black screen.

Had to hold down power to switch off.

I tried erasing the SD card and putting fresh files on it - that made no difference

I tried putting sysCheck on the card and that now just gives me a black screen when I try to load it!

USB Loader Gx seems to function correctly though and plays games etc.

    Any ideas?

Oh and by the way I'm sure you're right that they won't work but I need to do this for the logitech ones I'm going to buy so thought I may as well test these first!
