    Wii Disc Updates?

What do they do? Do they affect any softmods? Do I need them to play games? for example, If I got Super Mario Galaxy 2 as a present, and I used a app/program to get around the disc update, would i still be able to play the game? Sorry, Im being really cautious about my wii because i really dont want to brick it. My wii is ver.4.1 hbc installed along with dvdx and bootmii.

    Thanks :| :0 :O

No, you don't need the update. Sometimes the update will install an IOS that you need or an updated version of an IOS, or a new system menu that will disable your hacks. Just block the update, if you get a black screen when booting the game, then you are missing and IOS that the games uses, you can manually install the IOS, no need to update for the IOS.
