2GB (or smaller) cards are best, anything higher than that is a SDHC card and the Wii wasn't designed with SDHC in mind. It wasn't until system menu 4.0 that SDHC cards were even compatible with the Wii. It's still a crap shoot as to which SDHC cards will work. Nintendo itself doesn't have a recommend brand of SDHC card, check at Nintendo tech support. I think that they recommend 2 different brands, both of them being 2GB or smaller.

I have a Kingston SDHC 8GB class 6 card that doesn't work, it works with the HBC but won't load into the Bootmii screen but I see the 4GB version of the SDHC card and it works fine, go figure

Yea I know but since I got my 8GB as a gift (because I couldn't go get one myself) I used it to hack my wii. Now it just doesn't load from the SD icon no more.

    Here's what I did last:
Install IOS58, used DOP-Shop to network install Wii Shop Channel v19. Everything that requires an SD card works except for the SD icon and the Data Management SD tab.

I added to my last post, check it out.

My wii cannot use anything over 2GB so I don't run into them problems, I have 1 SD card over 2 GB and that's in my DSi, all the rest of my SD cards are 2GB and 1GB.

A restriction of the 3.2 system menu you are using?

No restrictions, all my 2GB SD cards work fine. I just cannot find that SD card icon that everybody is talking about.

    see, no sd card icon

Was your IOS56 updated, I once read somewhere that IOS56 (from the GH5 disc update) had something to do with adding downloadable content to the SD card, just guessing here.

My IOS56 is the same as the IOS56 on my Wii 1 month ago (when it was still working). What IOS56 do you have? I'll delete the IOS56 I have and replace it with yours and see if it works. I am using 4.2U System Menu.

My 8GB card has worked from the start to now when I updated my Wii Shop Channel using DOP-Shop.

Mine looks like that. It has that SD Icon but when I click it, it shows that error message.

As odd said it is a limitation of the system menu you are using. The SD card Icon on the Wii menu was not introduced until 4.0. (Same as SDHC) If you knew this already and were just joking sorry, haha.
    Damn I suck!!!!

So is there no way to fix this? I don't want to send my Wii to Nintendo to "repair" this as I barly did anything with the SD slot. I read somewhere that when using the SD card a lot (transfering files / downloading to SD card) can damage it and cause it not to work, because the Wii Shop Channel installs into the Wii Menu and saves the files into my SD.

I really want to fix this.... it's making me very worried about my Wii.

EDIT: Can you provide me with IOS information? I will see if I can get down to your IOS version:
    - I have IOS56 (v5405)
    - I have IOS34 (v3348)

OMG! Guys thanks for your help but I solved the problem! In Priiloader settings, someone in my family has set the "Use System Menu IOS" to "IOS36". That caused my SD card to not boot. I changed it back to IOS70 and the SD card works! But Priiloader won't load System Menu after holding RESET button. I then turned it back to IOS36 and Priiloader will boot to System Menu after holding RESET button but it won't let me access my SD card. Any thoughts on that?

Sorry for bumping this thread but I have another question. If I set "Use System Menu IOS" to "IOS60" in Settings will there be any problems / downsides on my Wii (4.2U)?

    Can someone answer this please?
