    Softmodding help

ok, I really need some help. If i pay someone to soft mod my wii with an sd its 40-80 bucks + the cost of the SD. I want to do it myself, but none of the tutorials seem to be dummed down enough for me. this is the first time im doing something like this. Some questions i have, Is the sd designated just for the wii after im done?, can i change the games that are on there when im done with them? is it better to use a hard drive? also anyone who has any tips or tricks to make this esier please post

That Version are you on? (ie. 4.1U, 4.1E, 4.2U ...) If you are on 3.1-4.1, use this guide. Or if you are on 4.2, use this one or this one. Both of those tutorials are very easy to follow. The SD Card can be used for whatever you want after, but if you want homebrew apps/games, you need a SD Card. What do you mean 'change the games', if you mean play different backups, you can just delete them off your USB Hard drive, or just get rid of the burned DVD-R. I think if you use a USB Hard drive, you can just easily put on, or take off whatever games you want, or don't want, rather than burning every game you want.

How do i check my version? i can put games on an sd card or usb zip or usb hard drive? will the wii be able to read burned disks or would i need to open it up and put a chip in? How big are wii games? can i put old school games on to or is that a different mod? sorry for all the questions

To check your version, go to Wii Settings, and on the top right hand, it tells you your version. For Homebrew Games, you put it on a SD Card, for Wii Backups, either a DVD-R or a USB Hard Drive. Depending on when you got your Wii. Wii Games are usually 4.7 GB, but you can Scrub it to make it smaller. By Old School games you mean like, NES, SNES, and stuff like that? Yes you can play, you need the homebrew channel, an emulator, and ROMs.

dont pay a person to softmod your wii, if you want to pay and this is to hard for you get a modchip and send it to someone so they can install it.
If I helped you make sure to hit the "Thanks" button

With softmodding (provided the Wii was purchased before November, 2009) you can play burned discs. You'll have to use a backup loader rather than the disc channel for backups. All of this is laid out in our softmodding guides. Should you have the D3-2 drive on such a Wii (one that won't play backups) there's always the option of USB HD gaming --- look here on that subject. In case you didn't post in the Introduction Section, allow me:

On the Flip-Side you can soft-mod you wii using only a SD Card... The guides that are here have been tried and tested and do work... DON'T FOLLOW FAIL-TUBE VIDS.... The first step that you need to do is find out what system menu version your wii is. After you find out that piece of information there are two guides that you can use.
If you are on 3.1-4.1 system menu you can use the guide by dogeggs: [[Guide]]
If you are on the 4.2 system menu the you can use the guide by Shadowsonic2: [[Guide]]

it all depends how old your wii is. if you have an older wii youll be able to run backups. If not, you are going to need usb..

I'm going to jump to the conclusion you're saying your Wii is less than 1 year old and D3-2. 4gb zip drive? Is it USB?
