Unhappy All Games Freeze (NOT spin down problem)

Hey guys, recently I've started having a problem with all of my wii games freezing after a couple of minutes of play. The most common answer I have found to this problem after a little research is an issue with spin down, but I can assure you that that is not the problem. I am using a Western Digital My Book Essential (WDBAAF0010HBK) and I used the provided software to turn it off. I don't exactly understand why the games started freezing all of the sudden because I've been running my wii for a couple of months now without any problems up until now. My wii is 4.2u running cios 249 rev 17. No matter what ios I load the game in or what loader it is with, all games freeze. Please help, thanks.

Put any one game on a usb stick or burn to disk, then try to load. See if it makes any difference.

You could try to reinstall cios38 r17

Reinstalling cios38 rev 17 didn't change anything and I don't have a flash drive to load the game to. I don't think it's the hard drive. Would it be possible that all of the isos on the partition somehow got corrupted? I originally thought the problem was a spin down issue with my nexstar vantec external, so I bought the 1tb WD external a couple of days ago because I needed more space anyway, but it is doing the same thing. Any other suggestions?

Pick a game and reinstall the ios it runs on. You could reinstall new versions of ios38 ios53 ios55, many games use those.
There is a list of ios here- http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...s-use-run.html

I don't think it is your ios, could be your drive or your partion, or your cable. I would try to load from another media to confirm your wii ios is funtional and working.

Actually, now that I think about it, I think it is the ios that is causing the problem. I remember having this problem a long time ago and to fix it, I uninstalled the homebrew channel and all of the custom ios on my wii and then re-softmoded it again. Is there an easier way other than this method?

You could generate an IOS report as described here and put the report in a reply to this thread.

^ All these IOS I have left in my quoted reply are out of date when you compare your IOS versions to the current versions listed here. You may wish to consult this thread to see how to download the updated IOS.

Keep in mind this isn't necessarily "the solution," but these IOS severely need updating as will allow for better game compatibility regardless. And you're welcome
