    Not reading discs anymore...

I modded a wii for somebody recently with bannerbomb 4.2u and they went straight home and watched a couple dvds on mplayer ce from europe that they got from a convention right after that it wont read anything. burnt or retail older model so i know it's not a d3-2. I reinstalled dvdx; didn't work. Went into wad manager and tried the virginize method just to make sure his drive isn't dead but ios 14, 31, 38, 53, 55, 70 and the 4.2 sys menu wont install i get a (ret = -1022) error. The index didn't really tell me much about that error. Any suggestion? Could playing a pal dvd in it affect the region at all? Rather than try a nintendo update to see if that works (I know it's not recommended but if i have no other choice) I'm gonna try and reinstall the mod completely and see if overwriting the ios's again will do anything. Hopefully i get a response, Thanks. ps. I've looked everywhere for a answer to this and nothing really turned up mainly just wiikey problems so i appologize in advance if it's out there and i just couldn't find it. also the disc is making a click noise while trying to read it, could the drive just be dead?

The Error Index offers you a few explanations. The wads are malformed. The SD card is corrupted/incompatible. Wii System Memory may be full. Make sure you're using a 2gb or smaller full SD card and not MicroSD/SDHC. Have it fully /not quick/ formatted FAT32. Sandisk work best; wally world sells "Wii" branded SD cards (Sandisk!) for $10.

Alright awesome thanks for the quick reply. I'm actually using a sandisk but I'll try my other one. I'll try the full format on it and redownload the ios's and see if that'll go. I'll let you know how it goes.

I am making an assumption the guide you're using is a wiihacks recommended softmod guide --- correct?

Ofcourse. I always use ShadowSonic2's guide for any 4.2 with the exception that i use rev14 rather than rev17. I seem to have a few problems with 17 on a few games but rev14 does it all for me.

Srry I don't know about rules on bumps but I completely restored it with this tutorial; http://www.wiihacks.com/other-faq-gu...odded-wii.html and still not reading any discs. When i insert the game in the disc channel it clicks loud in about 1-2 second increments as if its trying to read the discs but ultimately tells me to check the manual. Dead drive? I've tried a few retail games that I have but no luck

    EDIT

Well I unplugged the system and let it sit and when I plugged it back in this morning read discs for a little bit. Turns out disc drive is bad so I did the virginize tutorial and formatted the system memory and redid a nintendo update. The wii was bought off of craigslist and nintendo was called and turns out the system is only 6 months and they are willing to repair it. I just hope that they don't find any remnants of the mod.
