How to play Wii NTSC disc on PAL Wii

I recently bought Wii console RVL -001 (EUR) from Dubai. This is a PAL system. I have NTSC Wii games original discs that I wish to play. Can someone help me how to get it done? I have seen a number of videos and articles posted on the web but not sure which is the best way to go about modding either the NTSC files or softmod the Wii console.

    Thanks

For original disks, look into gecko on wiibrew.com.
Be careful not to run updates from the disks or else you'll brick your wii.

    Hi oddgriffin,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Hv downloaded gecko on a USB stick and ready to install....hv read some postings in Wiibrew.com.
a few more questions to you since I am new to this.
    - should I use a USB tick or a DVD to install gecko...any preference. I have both ready
    - i do not have any other channel (homebrew etc.,) installed. The Wii is brand new. Does Gecko require anyother downloads to work?
    - Last...I only want to play original Wii NTSC discs in my PAL system...nothing more. Is gecko safe?
Will make sure I will not run anyupdates as advised. Thanks in advance.

Gecko should reside in the apps folder on the homebrew channel, unless it is a wad to be installed as a channel. Then it would be in the wad folder and installed as a channel through wad manager.
Gecko is homebrew, it doesn't make any changes to your system like softmodding does.
The best thing to do is follow the begining of one of the softmod guides. Simply download the files and put them on the sd card, but instead of doing the whole thing. Run the hackmii installer and install bootmi and the homebrew channel, then you can put gecko in the apps folder and launch it through homebrew channel.

Thx again....rather than installing homebrew and launching Gecko, can I simply patch the original NTSC disc iso files with regionFrii and brickblocker, burn a DVD and play on my PAL 4.2E Wii? Will this work or will I brick?

Do I still need to install Homebrew and bootmi for trying out above? The installation tuts I read for installing homebrew require some game discs that I cannot get out here...hence the problem.

No they don't. No disks are required. Read the guide.

Thanks Krank..I will read the guide next. Rather installing homebrew and launching Gecko, can I simply patch the original NTSC disc iso files with regionFrii and brickblocker, burn a DVD and play on my PAL 4.2E Wii? Will this work or will I brick?

Are you trying to play ORIGINAL games as your first post says?? If so you won't be able to do anything on the computer with your Original disks. Unless of course you have one of the very few LG drives that can read wii games. So if your talking about brickblocking your original disks then no this isn't possible.

yup...you are right. I goofed up by ordering original Wii game CDs and realised that they are NTSC upon receipt. My console is PAL 4.2E, hence the problem. The computer disc drive will not read Wii file and that is correct. But I am willing to bet that there is someway to extract the files from the disc without the expensive LG disc drive and make it region free. I am just searching for that way....I read somewhere that you can copy the game to an SD card...and then you can get to the files. Is this true?

Well you said you don't want to softmod. But if you did then you could use a USB Loader to rip your original disks to a USB Stick , HDD or SD, then use WBFS manager to transfer the ISO's to your PC. However this is pointless because you could just install the original disks to your USB stick, HDD or SD card and play them from there. ( no brickblocking, no region frii, no burning). All you have to do is force PAL with the USB Loader. Other then that the best solution was given to you by oddgriffin above.
    Damn I suck!!!!
