Question Band Hero Disc Update - ok to run?

    Hi Everyone,

I have a friend who purchased band hero to play on her soft modded Wii (running Neogamma R7). When she puts the disc into her Wii it asks to perform an update before being able to play. Disabling updates on Neogamma prevents the disc from playing (black screen).

I've found the GH5 guide on these forums as a workaround but before going into all that effort... can she not just run the update from the disc to get it to work... or will break the softmod and possibly the Wii?

It's been a while since I've played around with Wii modding so thought I'd ask before attempting anything.

    Cheers,
    SamwiseM

It's best to avoid disc or internet updates on softmodded Wiis, all updates to IOS and System Menu should be done manually using the appropriate tools.

Band Hero apparently requires IOS53 or IOS56 from my thread here and will update the Wii to 3.4. I don't think any 3.4 updates had any anti-homebrew or cIOS measures.
Not really doing much Wii stuff these days.
