A few newbie questions (USBLoader, homebrew channel)

    Hi,
I just installed the homebrew channel and usbloader. When I start the USBLoader from homebrew channel it leads me to a screen "USB Configuration Loader" (or something) with the picture/logo of a switch. At this time the console freezes completely. I'm not able to do anything other than stare at the screen.

I have formatted a partition on my USB HDD to WBFS and imported a game to it. Is there something else I need to do to the harddrive to make it work?

Does anyone know why the USBconfigloader freezes? Is it intentional because I forgot something? I've followed tutorials on how to install everything.

You followed tutorials? Were they the ones on this site? Did you get any errors? Have you tried any other loaders?

Did not get any errors that I could see. I have not tried any other loaders, I didn't know there were any other. I'm trying to find the site I was looking at, it was a wiki site.

This is the folder structure at my sd-card (if it helps):
apps (folder) -> usbloader (folder) -> etc
private (folder) -> private (folder) -> etc
    usb-loader (folder) -> files
    boot.elf
    cfg56-222.dol
    installer.txt

Yes, if you had followed one of our softmod guides it would be alot easier to help you and you would have had the option to install other loaders.
Don't know what is installed on your wii or what kind of drive you are using.

The Wii is already modded (physically, though not by me), I've now attempted to softmod it - which might not be possible because it's already modded? as stated, I don't know much on this subject. How can I perform a sys check?

I followed this and installed the homebrew channel: GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial: Homebrew Channel
then I followed this and installed the required software: GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial: Usb Loader

Homebrew channel alone isn't enough to play backups from usb drives. You need to follow a guide to actually softmod and yes it is still possible. Go to our guides section and look for one that matches your system menu version.

After I've experimented with this, I'm not able to play any burned Wii games. I'm using Wiikey, is there a chance I have corrupted its software or something while experimenting with this? Or is all that data stored by hardware? I burned one of my games at a DVD-R Verbatim with imgburn (2x speed, then 4x). The disc was NTSC, I don't really remember if Wiikey made it regional free or if I have to do something myself. My Wii is PAL

I'm going to try softmod it (which seems to be a lengthy task) in a short while, I just need to finish a game before I try this.

Edit: I remember enabling regional free on my wiikey config.

I don't understand what you are trying to do. You asked about usb loading so we told you that you need to softmod. There are guides in our guides section for this. Now you are asking about the modchip?
What exactly is it you are trying to do so someone can understand?
