WBSF Manager 3.0 error: "An error occurred while attempting to format the drive."

WBSF Manager 3.0 keeps giving me this error: "An error occurred while attempting to format the drive."

I've searched and searched for hours and everything people suggested to others (with the same problem) did not work for me. It's driving me completely insane... I wanna throw this thing out the window! I've been working on this for the whole afternoon and evening and it didn't get me anywhere.

I purchased a "LaCie Hard Disk 301304U USB 2.0 1TB" yesterday as it was on the USB Compatability List.
Everything (as far as I know) works. My laptop recognizes the external harddrive and I'm able to partition the drive and format it.

I have Homebrew installed on my Wii and USB loader... etc. All that works.
I've played backed up discs on my Wii and also watched movies from a USB stick.

What I want is to be able to store my games and movies onto the external harddrive and play them on my Wii. How hard can it be? Well... for me... very hard!

Do I format the drive? Or do I leave it "RAW"? Do I partition it? And if so as what?
How can I stop WBFS Manager giving me this annoying error when I try formatting it to WBFS?

Can someone pleeeeeeease help me out?

    PS: I'm on Vista...

Try using This. It is GUI, a more advanced wbfs manager. If that doesn't work for you just google wbfs managers and you can find quite a few.

That didn't work. I'm not sure if that's the problem... I can't be the only one out there that has this issue?! :-(

What people still fail to take into account is a unit for your Wii consists of two things. One is the HD, the other is the USB controller itself. While I realize you say the drive is on the compatibility list, does this mean a bare drive or does this unit only and always come with the same controller on the list? Did you check out Gen3SF's USB HD gaming thread here?

Yes, I did follow everything as he tells you to do in his thread. Everything goes well... untill I try to format it with WBFS Manager. It recognizes it but gives me the error message when I try to format. I tried different managers and they all give me the same trouble. So I'm thinking maybe there's something wrong with the settings of Vista? Sorry for being a noob. I'm really trying here and I appreciate your patience... we all have to start somewhere. I'm usually pretty ok with these sorta things... I had no problem softmodding my Wii. But for some reason this isn't working and it's driving me insane. I'll try Gen3SF's USB HD gaming thread again... if anyone else had the same problem and knows what to do please help!

I think I should start all over...

Do I format the drive NTSF? It'll take me a day to format a 1T drive... no?!

The drive is on that list twice... with two different USB controllers. Not sure how I can check what USB Controller I have. I checked the box and the unit itself... where to look?!
