Thumbs up Stream Movies From PC to WII with ORB

Hi there, please can this be considered for a guide as it works like a bomb!

Step 1: Install Orb on your PC
Before streaming media, youíll have to prepare your PC. Download and install Orb, get it running and tell it where you keep your movie files, music and photos. (Orb | Media Anywhere)

Itís free, and will work without a hitch, as long as your PC and Wii are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

    Step 2: Get Webbed up
To tap into your PC youíll need to use the Wiiís Opera web browser. If youíve already downloaded it, fire it up and tap in Orb. You might also want to save it to your bookmarks.

If you havenít downloaded the Opera browser yet, you can grab it from the Wii Shop channel, although itíll cost you 500 Wii points (around £2.50)

Once itís loaded, and youíve tapped in the Orb address above, itíll load up a page showing all the files youíve got stored on your PC. Click on one using the Wii Remote, and itíll start to play. Orb converts everything on the fly, so the Wii can play back any media, in any format. That means no hassle, no hiccups, just streaming media and movies straight to your telly!

sounds pretty cool would this also work for streaming sports from p.c/internet to tv.?

Or do the files have to be stored on your p.c first ..?

does anyone know if you can use a WAD for the ORB or you need to get it direct from Nintendo ?

I think they may have the functionality for live streaming within the application... although have not yet explored that far. You would access ORB via the Opera Browser (which u can WAD)

Is thier a way to do it without orb? i know orb goes through the internet. Is thier a way so that it stays local and doesn't use your net bandwidth?

You may use WiiMC. Under the network setting, you may specify your SMB device (i.e., your shared network drive). Just make sure you need to use the shared drive name in the "Shared Device" section.

I tried Orb last year when somebody else posted it here at wiihacks. I couldn't get past the part where I was suspost to open a port in my firewall and let the internet browse my collections, I like my privacy.
