Ca Wii menu 4.2 mod fix

I'm modding a friend's wii that has already been through an attempted mod by someone else who tried a mod for 4.1 and ended up screwing things up. At the moment it has no homebrew and homebrew will not install due to no vulnerable IOS.

Everything on the wii like all the normal channels work fine.

I just want to know if there is a way to:
    a) get homebrew on and fix any IOS issues
    b) break the wii (used) so future shop's warranty is still in effect.

    I would prefer option a

    Thanks!

I would suggest searching as there is a guide that specifically states 'how to fix no vulnerable IOS' in the tutorials section.

Not sure what you mean by breaking a wii to keep a warranty in tact. Try not breaking it lol.

ok, now im in dop IOS following shadowsonic2's guide that i've used on 3 other wii's successfully, there is an error while loading ios 36 and downgrading ios 15. I thought this step might have already been done but when moving ahead to deleting the stubbed ios it didn't work, any ideas?

That makes 2 in as many days with an error at this step. Have you tried loading from SD, as well as download from NUS at this step? Are you using a true SD card, 2 GB formatted to fat 32?

I would suggest moving ahead to cios install, try ios250 or ios38- I suspect they will both work.

Thanks I wasn't sure about that, I suggested it yesterday but told OP to wait for confirmation, as I wasn't sure . I thought so as Messie's guide is similiar but without the patched 36. I try to refrain from recommending something I "think" will work

    Zamith13:

Surely you're aware of the Error Index in the Recommended Guides section? Extract:

    1048, 1053 & 1101:

DVD Read Error Bad burn/media or incorrect cios/neogamma version. If you are laready using Verbatim DVD-r burned at 4x, try switching to neogama r6 and cios36rev10 (will not work for new wiis/this has worked only for LU39 models). Also this error will persist on newer wiis, meaning that they have the new D3-2 chip which cannot read backups at all. Only option for them is USB loading.[B]

^Note: the NG R6 and cIOS Rev 10 are not currently recommended anymore, but the rest is still valid.
