Not getting far, system freezing when I put in SD card?

I am following the guides to soft hack my Wii (currently OS = v 4.1), but I am not getting far. I format my SD card to fat32 place the files on the card and pop it into my Wii. But no matter what the second it tries to read the card the system freezes and I have to do a hard reboot.

I have tried putting the SD card in with NO files on it and the Wii is fine, it only freezes when the required files are on the card?

Any ideas? I’m using a scandisk 2gb SD card (which is the best one according the guides). I have tried the specific formatting tools but always get the same result?

Next step is to upgrade the OS to v4.2 and try the other guide.

    Any insight would be great,
    -aPeg

Try switching the wii on and then put the sd card in when it is at the system menu.

Pobs suggestion is a good one to try. Is it freezing befoe you even click the SD card or Data managment? Which are you trying to load it from? The SD icon on the menu? Or through Data Managment?

I have tried getting to the SD card via data management and it works fine, but from there you can’t do anything required (for the soft hack).

off the main menu I click the SD icon and the black overlay that says “reading card” is always where it freezes. No matter if I put the SD card in before boot, after clicking the SD icon, before clicking the SD icon… once it tries to read the card it hangs?

I can put the SD card in from the main menu and the Wii is fine, but when I click the SD icon and it tries to read it… it freezes.

I can go out and get a new SD card, but the one I am trying with isn’t old or anything?

    Thanks,

Just for the heck of it. Format your Sd and try again with one of these packs. Worked for someone else recently. (pick the right one for your system menu and read the loading instructions)

    You're the king Krank

followed the instructions on the link you gave me, which worked perfectly. Then went back to that guide i was originally trying and it all went smooth as butter.

Building the game collection as we speak, by far the easiest system hack i have ever done
