    modchip & MH3

There are plenty of posts about how to get the game to work on a dvd, but it keeps saying that modchip users should not have a problem, yet I get the same loud noise/freeze everyone else gets when you try to start a game. It also seems neogamma doesn't work for this, so does that mean I'd have to use the actual disc channel to make it work, which would make the rest of the mods I can't keep track of stop working.

Probably will just stop trying to make it work in hopes my wii will keep working for galaxy 2.

Neogamma? If you are using that then it is using the cios and not the modchip.

Wow, I'm really not paying much attention then. I had to start using neogamma because New Super Mario Bros Wii just didn't work any other way, despite the modchip, and I was under the impression the modchip made it easier to get it set up, so I assumed it was using it.
So now I'm stuck, since using the disc channel will screw up everything else I put on there to get stuff to work (and I have no clue what I was doing when I got it to work in the first place).

Thanks for setting me straight on what neogamma does, though.

If you have a modchip installed and working, you should be able to play it with the disk channel just fine. i dunno why that would hurt anything. You have a combination that should allow you those kinds of options that others don't have. Take advantage of this.

I just remember having to un-do the nintendo updates in order to get a wad manager to work so that I could install neogamma, so now I'm afraid that if I use the disc channel and get the update, neogamma won't work, which was needed for some things to work, but since I haven't used the homebrew channel for anything since I figured out neogamma I guess I was worrying about nothing.

Thanks a ton for the replies, I try to fiddle with it as little as possible and having not changed it in months I figured I'd break it.

Is it asking you to update? If it does you need to install preloader to stop this. Look at the disk channel and see if it is asking you to update.

Since I put homebrew channel on, and subsequent fiddlings, everything except twilight princess asks me to update, so I assume it went back to a blank slate and have only used neogamma since to avoid it. I'll look into preloader, thank you again.
