Yes the laser will have nothing to do with USB loading. Personally I would install Hermes and see if it will load off 222 or 223. Then if that worked i would uninstall IOS249 and reinstall it.

Have u tried a different usb loader? Is the drive u are using confirmed as working? Is this the same for all games on the usb hd?

Install ios 222/223 see if the games will load via either of them.

I agree, I think the lens/laser is on it's way out. I should however be able to load games using the usb loader gx regardless of any lens/laser issues. I would rather use the usb method anyway.

I did read somewhere that even for usb loading that the disc drive has to be functioning as the wii accesses something from the drive to run, not sure how true that is but it would explain the usb problem.

@ Emuhack - have u any knowledge of this?

I have not heard that but does not mean that it is not true....

@nightsurf = try the 222 or 223 v4 and see if that helps....

Tried the USBLOADER GX r 815, and got the same reset issue that I had when using the other version USBLOADER. Let me put a few more games on the HDD and try them out just to make sure this isn't an isolated issue.

It has to be electrically alive and "seen" by the system, but doesn't have to be functional beyond that.

OP: so does this mean you accepted those disc updates from the "Recommended We Screw You" instructions as provided by Netflix? I recall Teal'C had said in another thread about some of these updates being a no-no...
