Wii wants to update on 4.2

I installed ciosrev17 and hermes ios v5 on my wii yesterday and everything was successful but after that when I went to the main menu to launch a game it wanted to update my wii?! It said I needed the update for the game to work. I didn't do the update because I was afraid it might uninstall my cios and homebrew channel from my wii. I've been playing my games through gecko os since then but I would really like to get the disk channel working again so any info on the subject would be much appreciated!!!

You need to load priiloader and enable the hacks for skipping disc updates and online updates....

Install priiloader to block disc updates.

It's all of the games. I don't know about gamecube but I wasn't going to update anyways. I'm just wondering why it wants to update when I'm already on 4.2u. I already have boot2 so I didn't really want to install priiloader. Is there another way?

I have boot2 installed as well, but also have preloader. Consider this, the 4.2 update kills boot2. True you can get it back, but if you are accidentally updated in the future you may have to wait around for a fix. Wouldn't it be easier to install priiloader? You can hide it so you never even know its there.

Its up to you of course, but I would suggest looking at the bricked wii section to see how many people benefited from it.

I am already on 4.2 I just want to know if having priiloader installed will disable the bottmii screen when I turn on the wii.
