Hope all this information is helping someone out there, newbie or expert alike with understanding how and why these things happen.

    wiiconnect24

That actually worked for me too. Somehow the Hermes cios started giving me errors when I took out the usb and I wanted to not keep the usb flash drive in, so I turned off wiiconnect24 like you did. I think that might be the problem. I don't know why.

Ok, everything seems to be running fine for whatever reason. Here is a break down:
    • Burning Maxtor DVD-R White Tops @ 4X /w IMGBurn.
    • Wii is sitting Horizontal.
    • WiiConnect24 is turned off.
    • Running NeoGamma R8 B7 /w cIOS249 R14
    • NeoGamma Settings for Region Options:
      • ---
      • 480p
      • Normal
      • Yes
      • ---
    • Rebooter settings:
      • ---
      • Yes
      • Yes
      • ---
      • Yes
    • SDcard /w bootmii 2, etc on it inside the slot.
That about does it! I tried out Mario Kart /w my wife for a while and it played fine. Punchout as well. This morning i was actually able to play tatsunoko vs capcom! Twilight Princess seems to play fine. Need to try out paper mario, mario party 8, etc.. but it looks good! One weird thing that does happen is if i have a disc in the Wii, when i turn it on it will eject the disc and reset itself, then i turn the Wii back on, goto the home screen and insert the disc and it works out fine. But i can't boot the Wii with a disc inside.

Thanks for the help everyone! I'll try and report back with findings and such and be active on here!

    Yet another solution

First of all, you don't actually have to have neogamma out of the default settings. It works in default. Secondly, I found a way to not have to keep wiiconnect24 off. It is to update your cios to ios249 r19. I did that just for the heck of it and it now works fine. Hope this helps!

you know r19 is just a beta version of cios and not fully tested yet, rev 17 would have been better
