Almost there, stuck on getting GH5/BH working

    Hello there,

Decided to dive into Wii modding because my Wii's dvd drive died. Rather than having the damn thing fixed, i decided to look into the usb drive options.

I'm almost there, managed to get everything working (details below), until i tried GH5 and Band Hero...

I'm not looking for someone to take me by the hand and guide me through the steps needed, i really want to figure it out on my own. But i've followed every damn guide there is on the subject and still can't get these particular games working. I'm suspecting that i took a wrong turn somewhere, as some of the guides i used were a bit out dated and as a result, i had to fill in some of the blanks myself.

Hope someone can point me to a good online source, or point out a missed/wrong step in the road taken.

    What i did:
    - started out with a Wii on 4.1
    - installed HBC with the bannerbomb hack, running the following apps in the process:
    - DowngradeIOS35
    - cIOS38_rev14
    - IOS60patched

    - installed Hermes hacks ( v4 of the IOSes)
    IOS222: (37/38 merged)
    IOS223: (38/60 merged)

    - installed WiiFlow 1.1

As stated, got everything up and running. Tried multiple other games (both NTSC and PAL), all working fine. Multiple GH versions (VH,Metallica,Greatest Hits) worked fine, so did RB Beatles.

Guitar Hero 5 and Band Hero did not though.
According to the guides i found online, the setup i have now would be sufficient. Most guides did not mention WiiFlow explicitly though (most used configurable usb loader), but wii flow has more or less the same options ( choose ios to use, 002 fix etc )...

No matter what combination of options i use (ios, fix, video mode), both GH5 and BH always get stuck in either a black screen or on the 'please wait' window before that. In the latter case the dvd drive light flashes about every 3 secs...

Of course there are many options still to try (other loaders, other ios merge flavours), will continue trying others of course, but someone might be able to point out a flaw in my install order or current setup. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks Cile, missed that one. I installed ios56-64-v5146, assume you're referring to that one?
Gave it a quick try with Wii Flow afterwards, still no luck. Haven't tried all combinations of options though, not that much spare time on my hands during weekdays. Damn jobs

I'll give it another try in a couple of days, want to try it with another loader too. Where i have seen people confirming it works with cfgUsbLoader, i haven't seen such statements from wiiflow users, that might help. One of the installed 222/223 flavours should work, am i right?

On a side note: can anyone point me to a online source that holds info on which games require which IOSes? (like GH5 requiring 56)
Also, as far as i understand, these IOSes are installed from a separate update partition on the disc? Had a look at wiiscrubber, and i did see update partitions (or was it sector? heck i'm new) on some ISOs. Guess usb loaders just ignore these or not?

Check the second post HERE , under "Black Screen" for info on wii scrubber and installing IOS and where to get them. There is also a link for a list of which IOS games use, written by tealc, in the second post as well.

It also has links to guides for both of the games your trying to run.

    Cheers
    Damn I suck!!!!

Thanks a lot guys, so many guides/threads/sources on the topics, easy to get lost. Got about half a working day of fresh reading material, already looking forward to tomorrow. Let's see what my supervisor comes up with after today's "we're not working at nintendo, are we" comment

    Thanks again!

    That's good news Narse.
If you don't mind me asking, which merged IOSes have you installed on 223?

IOS 38 merged with 37 as Messies guide states but I am on menu 4.2 so not sure if this matters or not, will have to wait until someone comes along to confirm that one.

Ah ok, that's the same merge as i have on 222.

One other question, the GH5 guide here mentions a file called "ehcmodule4.elf" should be used (in comb w/cfgUsbLoader if i understood correctly). Wiiflow does not require that file?

To have it all as clear as can be:
    - which wiiflow are you running? the 222 dol, or 249?
    - any weird individual game settings, other than use ios222 (video fix,002 fix, etc)
