Replace the shell of the Wii with a black one

Yeah... no Black Wii's in America. Maybe Nintendo is lying because they don't want their customers to hold off from buying the white ones, or maybe they really aren't releasing their collection of rainbow colored Wii's, but as of now, it doesn't seem like they are coming here.

I was wondering if it would be difficult just replacing the white shell with a black one. If I open my Wii up, is there high risk of breaking it? Or is it only just a few steps of a couple screws and placing the Wii inners into the new shell? I don't want to open it and see things popping out all over my room, or seeing ribbon cables coming out of their sockets. Is there anything I should be aware of? Will there be tricky spots? Lets here it.

Wow you wanna black wii that bad? Well good luck with all that. Maybe there is a way to paint it or something, then you could have other designs as well. I never hear of anyone messing with them like that, but ppl mod all sorts of other things so why not.

I've taken apart DS's before with replacing the shell, and it's a pain with the L and R button springs and keeping them in position, and then keeping power and volume switches in one place so that you can get it back together. I have some experience, I just want to know what I'm up against.

It is possible but only if you are good at that kind of thing. I am good at it and attempted to replace the sync button in one of my wii's because it is sticky but backed out of it just because of all the parts and pieces that I would of had to take out just to get to it. It was not worth the trouble. I would not recommend it.

I've actually ordered my XCM black knight case mod and will be replacing my old white case this weekend. I've got a tutorial (with great pics) that I will link to this thread as soon as I get home (I'm typing this message on my phone). Don't even think about painting your Wii! Not only will you risk doing more damage to your precious console, the end results are typically not desirable. I've already replaced my 360 case with a XCM black knight case, and the build quality definitely shows.

OK, sorry for the delay. I finally submitted a tutorial on case-modding. Just waiting for a moderator approval. Once that goes through, I'll post the link here.

Well... I can already tell you that painting the Wii would be a horrible idea. The black shell will only cost me 25.99, so I'll just buy that later on and replace my own with it. It just doesn't come with instructions. Like I asked before, this is a question on how difficult this will be to disassemble, but the guide that will be posted will be great help and a perfect answer!
