Thread: D3-2? SN: LU7394... Mod Chip available?

    D3-2? SN: LU7394... Mod Chip available?

    I used to have a Wii when the first came out and had it modded. There were no decent games then, so I sold it to my brother. Well I bought a new one and a lot has changed since then apparently. There's more modchips and different internal components now that it has my head spinning.

    So I checked my Wii SN in the database and it said it could be a D3 or D3-2 or something like that. I opened up my Wii to make sure and the ICC is blank. I'm assuming this means I have a D3-2. Is there a modchip available for this yet, or should I just be patient and wait, as i'm sure if there isn't there will be within the next few months.

    You can USB HD that Wii, buy a WODE, or Sundisk thing (HD replaces your optical drive within the Wii) if it's a D3-2 drive. Or you could buy a used drive off Flea Bay that's a non D3-2 drive.

    Thanks, I think i'll just wait for an updated mod. I don't want to have to buy a drive and a modchip.

    its possible there will be no updated mod, buy a sun-driver, or you will need to softmod, and buy a usb HDD. Even withouht having a D3-2, a USB HDD is 100000x better than DVD loading.

    When I got my first Wii a long time ago, I had one that wasn't moddable. I thought there would never be a mod for it, I was wrong. As long as there is something that hasn't been hacked, there will be someone or a group of people out there trying to hack it and eventually they will. I believe the chances of there not being an updated chip or new chip for this drive is pretty low and if there isn't one, then I guess I won't be modding my Wii.

    no updated mod is needed, grab a USB HDD, softmod the wii and your sorted. I would think at least 75% of people here are running backups from USB HDD, even without needing too because of the drive chip.

    Too expensive for me to get the mod and the hdd. I can't afford it.

    Mind you I do like the idea of having everything accessible off one drive and it would probably load faster as well. If theres no updated modchip by the time I can get enuff money to afford it, i'll do it.

    I must be lookin either at the wrong place or the wrong info, or both. I'm looking at the D2Sun board that you install in the Wii and attach a 2.5" hdd to. Unless you are talking about a softmod and then buying a usb hdd?

    d2sun is one option.

    Softmod and buying an HDD is another cheaper option. You can even use USB thumb drives or SD cards.
