Question Softmod - Neogamma RC3: "Error has occured press the eject button..."

    Hi everyone,

I have a quick question regarding backup games after a soft modification.
This morning I helped my friend softmod his wii using the guide "3.1 - 4.1 Softmod Tutorial..."
All went fine as expected and used the new files which were on tutorial. When trying to launch backup games i get a black screen with following message

"Error has occurred press the eject button remove the game disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information"

This is with titles such as Peppa Pig, COD Modern Warfare, Grand Slam Tennis, Mario Sonic at the Olympic games, Wacky racers.
The only game which I have managed to get working is Wii Music. I can confirm that all these backups are ok burned onto verbs and working in my own wii. (My wii has a WiiKey installed)

Am I maybe missing something on this soft modification? - I will run signcheck and post the output here also.

Did you check the games/IOS thread here? Also, I'm betting you didn't do a search, the Peppa Pig is a known issue/solution, look here.

    Nightstah,

Thanks for your response, I knew there was an issue with Peppa pig as i had problems with it with my USB loader. I did however complete a search for this problem in general as thought it too much of a coincidence that so many games gave exactly the same error. I will check the links u have given me and provide feedback.
    Thanks again

Ok - I checked the links provided by Nightstah. Mainly the ones with the games listed and IOS which that game uses.

    For example the below 2 games use;

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Reflex....IOS55-64-4633
    Grand Slam Tennis......................IOS55-64-v4633

I have later versions of the IOS's required. The thread seems to refer to games which give a black screen rather than the error I get. To be a little more specific I get the message just before the game boots, I see the white saftey screen asking me how to attach WiiMote round wrist etc, press a to get passed that screen the black screen with this error.
"Error has occurred press the eject button remove the game disc, and turn the power off. Please read the Wii operations manual for more information"

    ill keep searching.....
    Thanks

sounds like bad media, bad burn or bad rips/downloads.

what media, speed and software are you using to burn?

    Hi,

Thanks for your input. I use DVD-r verbatim, only ever use these dics. All of these work fine on my own modded wii which is chipped with the WiiKey. Maybe this drive laser is picky or its near the end of its life, however in saying that does not sound like it is working too hard....

You should burn @ 4X max, you didn't really address the speed issue. To rule out a bad burn or bad image, do you have access to another Wii to test these on?

Same issue here. Too many people saying bad media. Had backups running with 3.2 and 15mo old twilight install with backup launcher 3g. Updated to 4.1 using dogeggs current method/files with hbc, boot2 and prii working fine. Hackmii had worked and now it freezes the wii. My disk read error is a direct result of the changes. Non-backups are ok. One thing I noticed is the old backup launcher channel disappeared at some point without me uninstalling or erasing. Seems strange. I'll figure it out. Any guidance is grand though.
