Keep new wii or keep old one? I'm selling one for sure!

OK, so I just won a new wii with 4.2 and I soft modded it and that was easy with the tut. here on the site. PERFECT!

Before I won that I had many requests to get one from people and someone mailed me and said they would sell me theirs with disk read error and remote cables... all for $85 shipped.

So I plan to keep the remote and then sell one of the units.

So, should I keep the old one and if so how do I fix the disk read error?
They shipped it today so I should get it in less than a week from now. Looking to learn as much as I can before then.

They said theirs was never modded or hooked up to internet so I suppose it's an older model and mabe even a good drive chipset for backups but as of now just a guess.
    Thanks!

Disk read errors could be alot of different things and I would never take anyones word that is wasn't a softmod failure. You will have to wait till you get it and run signcheck on it to be certain it wasn't a cioscorp fail.

sounds good to me. I can still install that via sd card so that sounds like a good place to start.
    Thanks

If you are going to sell one I'd say try to fix the broken one first. Maybe you'll have boot2 and backup disk capabilities which you probably won't with the new one, in my mind thats a better softmod consol anyday.

    UPDATE:
When I got it, it powered onto standby mode. She said it usually just sits there and has been played maybe 30 hours, non smokeing house, problem started off random but ended up not working at all. Never softmodded.

When I insert disk, it sounds like it wants to spin but something is blocking it. It also has rings scratched on the wii sports game. One set of rings close to the center and one near the middle.

No codes, just the can't read or whatever it says.

Any ideas on what to do to fix it would be great. I'll get triwing in on Fri. most likely

OK, last update on this. I got it open and found 2 pieces of red paper in it!

That was an easy fix! Just tested and it works just fine.

Now I only have to decide... should I keep a used wii (with D2C2) Drive in it or keep my brandnew one... choices choices. I'm leaning towards keeping the old and selling the new. Probobly get more money for one still under warantee

Always keep a Wii that is boot2 capable, You will always be able to fix a brick if you have boot2 and a NAND backup.
