No idea why it went Black screen for you. The process you followed works 100% on any Wii that has ever had a problem like yours. The worst case scenario was a Settings Opera error.

I'm having similar issue. I bought my Wii in China, and realized that it is a Korean version with upgraded 4.0U software. I’m using USB Loader CFG to play games, and it works great. Problem is getting the channels especially Mii working. Based on (Cannot access Mii channel on Korean Wii at JOKERz Lounge) when i checked the channel info using Any Title Deleter, I only had one version (ending with K e.g. xxxK). When I load Mii Channel it gives the error “You can’t access this channel”.

This is what I’ve done so far:
1.Installed Mii Channel (NUS) using DOP-Mii
2.Used Any Title Deleter and found now I have HACK and HACA. Deleted HACK.
3.Restarted Wii, and when I started Mii Channel, the word Mii Channel is in English (so that was a positive sign). When I try to go into Mii Channel, there’s a black screen followed by going back to the Wii main menu.

Oh, I had the same error “You can’t access this channel” for my Photo Channel too, and after I did the same as above and used DOP-Mii to install the NUS version of the channel, followed by deleting the extra Korean version, i’m able to use Photo Channel with no problems at all. Had lots of fun making doodles of wife’s pics ^_^

cIOSCORP is probably to blame. An older revision (v65535 on all IOS) highlights this.

The solution? Uninstall cIOSCORP to revert your IOS to normal ones. Wii Channels, just like games require IOS to operate.

Yup, plus using IOS 249 Rev 15 doesn't exactly help... go with Rev 17 (or 14 if you don't care about dual layer support).

First and foremost, thank you for your post, and patience to assist me.

Had no idea what cIOSCORP, so googled it and really makes me wonder if the folks that I got my Wii from know what they were doing. When I bought my Wii, it came loaded with USB Loader CFG v53 channel, USB Loader GX channel, Homebrew Channel, Mii Channel, Photo Channel, Shop Channel. They just told me to use CFG channel to play my games via USB HDD. I did try GX channel on one game but didn't load, so just moved CFG channel to the very end of the channel slots. The modifications that I did on my own was what I wrote on my previous post. I also installed the Weather, News, and Internet channel using DOP-Mii. So far Mii, Weather, and News Channel all give the black screen followed by back to the main Wii screen issue. The Photo Channel, and Internet channel works. I've not accepted the User Agreement due to the fact it asks to perform an upgrade, thus no Connect24 setup either.

    Questions:
1.Been mentioned many times in so many forums it's not a good idea uninstaling/removing IOS (especially the 2 digit ones), but in my case here it's ok?
2."Uninstall cIOSCORP to revert your IOS to normal ones." - in other words, I just need to uninstall cIOSCORP and the normal ones will be there, or do I have to install the normal ones after uninstall cIOSCORP?
3.What do you mean 'normal ones'? Original Wii's IOS?
    * Got the answers for question 1-3. cIOSCORP v3.x uninstaller will uninstall cIOSCORP. It will put/replace the original IOS back.
4.When do I do the upgrade of IOS 249? Before or after uninstalling cIOSCORP?
5.GAF's Wii Homebrew Tutorial: IOS249 - appears that IOS249 now is rev19. Any issue upgrading to this?

    Another train of thought:
We Hack Wii / IOS and RVL Downloads - indicates that IOS31 needed for Mii, News, and Weather Channels. Based on my IOS list, I don't seem to have IOS31. Possible issue fixed by installing IOS31?
