    Have i missed something

Hi Guys, I am still quite new to all this so need a bit guidance please. I have sucessfully Modded 2 Wii's using the software provided in the tutorials section and both times the system connected to the internet and downloaded something during modding, not exactly sure what as i cant remember at what step this happened. I tried to do my third Wii which is on system menu 4.1e and is one of the black models. The modding went fine but i did notice that it DID NOT connect to the internet. the Wii will not play the back ups via neo-gamer. I have noticed on here that there is a new dvd drive chipset that wont play dvd-r and i am assuming this to be my trouble. my question really is, does the internet download part of the modding process have anything to do with the machine playing dvd-r or is it simply the new chipset drive that i have.

    Thanks in advance.

I actually didn't use internet for softmodding my wii's so that is not a problem.
Type in google "Wii chipset database" type your S.N. and se what u get!

    Hope it helps

Hi piratecaptain and thanks for your quick response, here is the info from the database •There is a 75% chance the chipset is GC2-D3-2 (v2) with no drive chip. Does this mean i need to use a usb hdd or is there another way around.

You have the D3-2 chip since you can't load discs. Use the USB loader guide in my sig to get the usbloader working. It's much easier to use then swapping discs all the time.
