Basic backup playing and usb question/recommendations
Have a 4.2 system that I just softmodded, I'm not sure what I'm looking for so advice or guidance would be nice. I have the NES/SNES/N64 emulators on and was researching trying to play backups of gamecube and wii games. Searching around it seems that buying a USB HDD would be the best route. I want to make sure I'm only doing this once and doing it the best way.
Will I also be able to put gamecube games on the HDD?
What are the benefits of multiple partitions on the drive?
What else should I be researching to do to the wii now that I know about wii modding, keep in mind I use my PS3 for it's games, movies, streaming and stufff. My girlfriend and her son use the wii most of the time and I'm figuring a wii with a HDD strapped to it is alot easier when they travel to family members or go on vacation that a bunch of kids with a book full of DVD's that countless times have been trashed.
Well, you used to have to have wbfs partition for wii games. So with a wbfs partition, you'd want to make a fat32 one for other stuff, emulators, videos, and stuff like that. Also, wbfs is only used by wii's. Computers and other stuff cant read wbfs(except using a program to load games onto it) So if you want to use your harddrive for other stuff, you'd need to have other partitions.
I guess you can use fat32 for wii games now, but im not really sure how that works, so you would have to look into it.
About other stuff you should researching, i dont know.. Take a look at triiforce, it allows you to play wiiware and vc off of your harddrive or sd card. Its not compatible with every game, but most work. Of course, if you are going to be taking your wii around with you, look at mplayer ce for playing avi movies. You are already into emulators, so thats good, keep in mind though, n64 doesnt work very well, so you're better of looking at n64 vc.
second,
since you cant run gc off usb I suggest making multiboot discs. You can sometimes fit 6 or more gc games on one disc so you wouldn't be lugging around too many discs that way
